I have been buying silver from Estate sales for several years. The prices have all been quite stable. Last week things started to shoot up a little bit, but this week they are 1.5x what they were for the last 3 years. Half dollar was 10 bucks, now they are 15. Dimes are now 5 dollars. It's becoming obvious that even boomers are getting desperate to get ahold of silver.

I have an auction that ends in 10 hours, 4 half dollars, 4 quarters, and a dime. To me that's 62 dollars max. All coins are in rough shape, nothing special. Bid is at 90.

Anyone else notice similar happenings?

No. Maybe in March-April when banks were failing left and right. Volume and prices for the past month have been down. Hit a bump last week in anticipation of the Fed raising rates next week, but only 10% or so.

Also, why isn't this in one of the FOUR /pmg's?

Not sure if bot.

I am specifically talking about local, after market and not the stock market, fed, banks or any of that made up garbage.

Reichsmarks with big windmills are getting hard to find. They were readily available just a few months ago. Now they are almost unobtanium.

Not a bot.
Your local market is retarded.
If I were in your shoes, I'd be buying bags of coins from Monument Metals at 22x and flipping it. You'd make a tidy 10-30% profit

I got some at 13 each here... 2 weeks back? Admittedly they aren't the good ones with the giant eagle, but they are still 5 Reichsmarks 34-36.

Honest answer, I have never sold silver, I am not sure how to off them. It sounds like a solid idea, but I have tried to off really nice coins I have and facebook market bans the shit out of it, and craigslist here is mediocre.

I though when you said that, you were selling.
As I said before, prices have been falling since April. The silver spot price went up last week because of the Fed (no matter if you believe in it or not, it still influences the economy), but that bump is about half gone. Volume is down so premiums are down too.
All I can think of is either crazy people got in a bidding war or the seller is paying some clowns drive up the price hoping to lure in a rube.

Yeah, those are still plentiful. There's also some with two small swatties, which I am stacking currently. No swatty at all is kinda boring though, but if it's for the same premium as some generic ass Maple or whatever it's still gonna be a buy for me. I'm talking about Germany, BTW. When they're getting rare around here you know it's over.

I buy at estate sales. I know they have control over the markets, but it is becoming apparent that they are losing it. Things have for years followed it, and now prices everywhere are way up comparable.

The tiny hat people are mad or something. You can't post about them because biz jannies are all them and get really butthurt. biz jannies are just reddit jannies. Feelz bad bro.

I have been banned so many times for "off topic" because you mention the unmentionables.

I presume the other folks in that market tend to be older and out-of-touch. Probably still think prices are at ATH. Are these in-person? You could take some junk there and sell it off at huge margins to the folks who didn't win the auction.

I know, but this conversation should still be in one. It would get more eyeballs. I'm no financial expert, just a stacker who reads Kitco news every few days.

Oh, I know you guys want them. $13 is not a bad price, especially in the US. If you can find more for around that buying is a no brainer IMO.

An Estate sale is just all or most of the belongings in one persons house for sale. Boomer dies/moving to retirement home and they sell off all their things on the cheap at an Estate sale, get about 50-75% of eBay cost and family makes money. You can't really take things there to sell. Now a days most of it is done online and you bid online and then go pick it up on a specified date and time.

Before this week, I spent about 30 dollars USD per ounce. But, I pretty much only buy old coin.
