Don't get me wrong, I do think the rally this year will slow down and 2024 may be rough but in the big picture we are going into the upward trend again. These kinds of cycles come in 3 years, in the dotcom bubble we had 1999 rally, the 2000 peaks, and the 2001 bear market. In the housing bubble we had 2006 rally, the 2007 peaks, and the 2008 bear market. We had the 2020 rally after covid crash, the 2021 peaks, and the 2022 bear market. At best we have the big tech leader stocks cooling off and the rest of the markets slowing down to new supports. I would be in cash now for sure, but I will not be afraid to buy later this year, there will not be a big crash.

A great way to get short exposure while putting up very little money is buying an out of the money put butterfly spread in a highly liquid name.

For example, I bought a 439/435/431 spread in the spy today for 8/25 for 13 cents, which will pay out 4 dollars if spy closes at 435 on 8/25, or roughly 30 to 1 payout. Put up $200 to make up to $6000 with 15 contracts.

Admittedly, the prospect of closing at 435 on the dot on 8/25 is extremely unlikely, but if we are in the general area within the last week or so of expiration, you will 10x.

Way cheaper than shorting, puts, or put spreads.
