Kek I think the whole telecom meltdown over the lead cables is overblown. The companies installed them with the safety inspections/laws dealing with that kinda thing at the time. So you can't go "Whoops hey lets sue cause they cause my hair loss" decades later when newer tests may show perhaps those cables were not made that good after all. It's a legal farce. It's not like the Tobacco company who knew the product was a killer and still sold it anyway. Or like Ford. You can't sue them for driving a 1980 era shat box with zero airbags when you have an accident. Cause they (Ford) weren't required to put them in till the mid 90s.

I think investing in IPs is the way to go, nobody is pumping out new universes these days. I can't think of a single media franchise that spawned something new in the past 10 years. The internet is so decentralized it's hard to capture as many eyeballs at once. Star wars the original would never be as popular as it is if it were released today. That's why I'm bullish on Disney and other companies with massive portfolios they can continue milking for eternity.

the entertainment industry is the core of democracy, it won't die, even if it means externalizing everything to japan and korea.
Plus it's summer and nobody gives a shit about tv shows right now. In September it's going to be another story

dont forget that the japanese bureaucratic bugs have allowed AI to be trained on pirated data, this is why, even though the japanese Ai models are crap, all the western merchants make a deal with japan firms to train the western AI on the pirated data in japan, and they will import back into the west the output. This means all the wageslaves in the entertainment industry are killed. good riddance.

AFAIK it’s two totally different things. You’d buy stocks in Apple if you think their AR headsets will be game changing or if you thought Apple Silicon would be. They’re long term investments and safe places to let large sums of your money, grow rather than stagnate and dwindle in a bank account.

The other is short term plays with more risk but higher return.

NVDA is *the* chipmaker for AI in cloud/datacentre. Arm's IPO is supposed to be this year and they are the NVDA of microcontrollers so if you think edge computing will be a big arena for AI then they will be a good play. STM, NXPI, AVGO and QCOM are the biggest Arm chip manufacturers (STM and NXPI also fab their own chips so it hedges against invasion of Taiwan).

It's just the AI hype, and it's probably overinflated. People imagine a world where costs can be slashed by having AI do menial jobs like help desks, but they don't understand that current AI is not real AI. It's the equivalent of a drunk human who acts entirely on intuition and has no conscious thought. It has it's uses, but it's more of a "20% decrease in help desk workers needed since it can help 20% of customers" as opposed to a "AI will completely replace an entire sector".
The investors don't understand this yet, as usual, and are banking on the hype. It has its uses, but it's clear stocks like NVDA are overpriced for what AI actually provides. I see it as a metaverse situation except instead of zero viable product, there's a mediocre product.
I say this as a programmer who has worked on AI.
