I think it's fair to say we can hardly know just how accurate the measure of any stockpile is, along with which deposits people have access to. If anything, keeping things hushed as can be means less competition for anything not publicly known. But that doesn't mean places aren't gearing up for a time when PMs are king for a time.

The best silver to buy are mint sealed tubes of silver coins. When you get them don’t cut the seal opens and leave them there. Far easier to sell back. Selling back random coins and small bars is unattractive frankly, they’re considered scrap silver for me personally since they’re “loose”. The next best silver to buy are big bars of silver, personally I like 10oz Royal Canadian mint bars since they’re sealed in a thin plastic wrap, and I like 20oz Scottsdale kitkats because I just like them. After those are giant 100oz bars, you may think they’re harder to sell back but they aren’t. If you can afford it, get sealed monster boxes and don’t open them. This is the best way to stack. Forget fondling them.

RCM tubes don't come with seals, do they? I've seen some tubes have a sealing sticker that other government mints often have, but I've never seen it for Maples.

An emergency to me is something you have to fix ASAP, like a hole in your roof, your daughter being kidnapped by a crackhead or your car breaking down. Which would imply selling your pms in a hurry and not get the best bang for your bux out of them.

But if we talk about long time injuries and one year unemployment, that's when the pms come in handy. You have enough time to sell them at the right time for the right price.

There's too much of any good thing. It depends on whether you live in a 'safe' area, how much you intend to stack, what element you're stacking, who knows about it, how much you nee to live off vs how much fiat you have and/or earn, etc.I'd recommend a minimum of 3 months' worth of expenses in cash, then whatever you want in PMs. I'm also into diversifying, so I have index stocks in a Roth IRA, too.

In the UK we have something called an ISA which is a tax-free investment thingy, so any profit I make in the ISA can't be taxed but the catch is you can only invest £20k a year and i've been investing in it for 3 years now so total £60k. But i understand your position too, it can aleviate some stress to know you can immediately solve a tricky situation, especially if you have kids and/or a house.

The only part i dislike with my position is the lack of dry powder if an opportunity arise. Sometimes the timing is everything, and i missed opportunities more than once this way. But on the other hand, the lack of cash also forced me to be a saver where my determination would have lacked otherwise, and also saved me from bad trades i thought were great deal while the adrenaline was kicking in, but ended up being really shitty in retrospect (especially in the stock market, which i'll never touch again kek).

Like in everything, it's pros/cons and it's up to each fren to measure where he want to be on the ladder.

If it will put you in a spot thats uncomfortable then stick with the 5g and get another when you can afford it.
