Oh, no I don't do that. I load up on my full position from the get go since I only target 10 pts most of the time. Anything more than that is gravy. But it's pretty common to catch a runner lately.

When I do and want to let my position ride, I will throw on Donchian channels on the 2 min chart, and exit once price breaks the channel on the opposite side. You can catch most of the up move this way on a trend day.

I don't like staying in futures that long. I usually am in various options positions also, but I don't like having my entire account tied up in margin. And it's really hard to watch more than 1 market. I trade options on the daily TF.

I actually think futures intraday is the easiest way to trade desu. I may not know what the market is going to do 1 month or even 1 week from now, but it's much easier to predict the next 15-20 mins.

I generally wouldn't recommend putting much weight into dividends at all. Fundamentally, they're irrelevant - its just dollars shifting from the company balance sheet back to your pocket. You can of course look at yield and payout ratio and internal growth to see which companies may be cheap in a way that benefits you, vs other companies that may be cheap in a way such that management squanders the money on pet projects or outright fraud, but there are also plenty of well-run companies that pay a small but growing dividend, or those which do not pay any dividend at all.
