"The wrong people--rebels, outsiders, nerds and techies-- got on the cryptocurrency boat while their insider/rentier "betters" blew it and are now raging bitterly onshore."

"In other words: why embrace some manias but not all manias? Answer: some manias make the usual insiders filthy rich, others don't. The dot-com mania generated billions of dollars in profits for Wall Street and the rest of the financier-politico leeches (i.e. the rentier class) via IPOs (initial public offerings), insider deals and vast fees generated by trading the mania with other peoples' money."

"The housing bubble generated billions of dollars in profits for Wall Street via the issuance of mortgage-backed securities (MBS), CDOs and other exotic financial instruments based on mortgages and related securities, and realtors (and the rest of the housing industry) banked billions in commissions, fees and other skims."

"Now compare that to the cryptocurrency mania: Wall Street and the rest of the financier-politico leeches (the rentier class) have virtually no insider skims in the cryptocurrencies--is it any wonder they hate bitcoin with a passion that correlates to their inability to rake in billions of low-risk fees from the mania?"

No, don't treat crypto like some robin hood bullshit.

When a coin moves up in price, it occurs because a rich person/group of individuals have made it occur, because it would benefit them to do so. They then drop in price because that larger player has then decided sell.

They create the movement that benefits them at that moment. They create self-fulfilling prophecies and pump and dumps. This happens in all markets, not just crypto.

And you shouldn't resent this fact. Join in on the self-fulfillment, the pump - and get out before the dump. Be glad they even bother to participate in the market. It's true that more "outsiders" have gotten in "early" on this phenomenon, but don't resent big money, they're the ones who build the pyramid.

This is like the plot of Mr. Robot, where in the beginning he thinks he's taking down The Man(tm) but all along he was just a pawn being used for rich-people games.

Crypto was invented by an alphabet-soup dark government thinktank, and it's controlled by rich whales in China and offshore tax-havens.

All this anarchist rebel crap is media spin to keep the plebs distracted. Enjoy your mass-produced trademarked revolution boys.

You attribute way too much power to individual wealthy people or institutions. You're actually doing their work by thinking this way.

The truth is the vast majority of BTC moves are attributable to a broad, growing userbase.

Yeah somewhat.

Hard to believe, but a lot of people have an elitist attitude. They think they are the cool people who are "making it" and the outsiders just need to crawl around in filth and then die
