So what is this cloud talk? I spoke with my neighbor who works tech for AT&T and also follows the markets. He didn't seem to know much about this but when I brought this up he doubts that DISH will actually deliver 70% coverage, or how they will be able to utilize their satellites which are designed for just beaming data to the ground, not receiving it from customers. Is that what the cloud tech is for?

This could easily be Ergen's retirement plan. Dish needs liquidity but is asset rich. No one will finance Dish because the assets on books are worth more at a discount at bankruptcy.

My suspicion?

1) Have SATS do an LBO using the spectrum assets as collateral
2) Spin off the garbage old business or sell it for a special dividend
3) Use that special dividend to pay back the loan or call some of Dish's old debt
4) Re-sell the full package for a premium

Ergnen's wanted 98 per share for a long time now, maybe now AMZN would play ball and give him a desirable bid for it. We all know Starlink is garbage and the next billionaire plaything game could easily come from this angle.

You make these threads coming off as a smart guy to discuss DISH. I wasn't fudding I was literally just asking you for a bit of base wisdom before I committed to more research in the matter. I never saw your first thread only that screenshot. I'm was just wondering how DISH's satellite infrastructure would work with the cloud but I clearly shouldn't have brought it up.

They need to satisfy the bond holders. Already did an exchange offer once before and they are trading at 85 last I checked. This is just speculation by me but it's a way that they could do it. Ergen has had a history of having mis-priced and complicated convertible bonds.

super glad I bought some calls. Wonder how fast the price is going to start moving. If you guys who are buying spot dont know how to write contracts, I recommend you go and learn how to utilize the covered call strat. You can end up making a stupid sized return for relatively low risk (you risk future profits, not your principle and this risk comes with upfront capital). You can easily double your bag size with proper use of this strat, especially with the upcoming volatility spikes that are bound to occur with any rumors.
