i personally make $101k and i am sure to call it out as being "barely six figures" because i recognize how poor i am despite making the elusive and illustrious ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND 0/100 UNITED STATES DOLLARS PER ANNUM

I say "mid 6 figures" and make 319k + ~40k in bonuses (all in, say 360k). Do you think this is disingenuous?

I told my mom I made $95k and she immediately admonished me for not having a house, nice car, and "having" my wife work instead of taking care of the kids. It's so hard to really understand just how entitled and easy that generation had it.

Roughly same situation minus the wife, I make 100k and parents can't fathom why I'm not splurging on cars ect.

You should look into having your wife look after the kids though. It's better developmentally than daycare and if your wife doesnt make a whole lot it could even be better financially.
