I bought 60k worth of silver in July of 2020 for 24.55 an oz. It is now 22.70 and I've lost $4,519.

If I had bought Tesla stock on that day I would have 2.5 million after all the stock splits.

If I had bought Bitcoin it would have been worth 175k right now and 417k at the high.

Why does everyone here keep buying these stupid metals that don't do anything. I feel like I've been scammed.

the point is to have some in metals to diversify. why would anyone expect silver to have the same returns as a meme stock like tesla or btc? if you want those type of returns, you should probably consider some additional asset classes.

with metals, i think it would help to think of them as dividend stocks, if your goal is total weight at the end of the day. do you want to be hitting all time highs on reinvestment day? i want the price to drop on those days and the days leading up to it. probably not too much to worry about while you're in the beginning or middle of your stacking journey.

people here are building good investment habits doing this with something that is virtually impossible to get zero'd on.

Thanks anons, he's a younger boomer and has always been generous and encouraging. His dad collected coins, and of grandpa's 6 kids only my dad really got into collecting himself, then among my siblings only I take it seriously so it's a nice shared hobby for us to partake in. Dad gets good stuff at spot periodically from an awesome LCS, a few days ago he bought $55 face in half dollars for melt price, paying with 10oz bars they were crediting him $0.80/oz over spot for, literally getting more silver in constitutional coin than he gave them in modern generic bars. The coins were rusty from being in a waterlogged safe or something so the shop wasn't going to sell them for the usual +40% junk silver premium, but dad cleaned it up really easily. The shop is to busy to mess with chemicals and cleaning stuff like that so they either send it to a refinery or sell it for melt to savvy customers, it's pretty awesome.

if that was the case i never would've gotten into stacking.
silver could crash to $10 and while i would feel bad about my investment, i would not sell.
this is going to out live me, and pending i teach my children right, out live them.
unlike stocks that crash and become worthless, this is a tangible asset that has beautiful artwork on it which still gives me enjoyment.

i've watched a bunch of videos of people suggesting to expect prices to drop hard along with basically every other asset class if we get a collapse (the cash is king people basically or long bond people expecting rates to get very low again) before we'd get a moon. selling on a price drop just seems retarded for metals unless you have a legitimate emergency where you need cash. metals don't miss earnings reports. they don't go bankrupt. they don't get delisted.

I'm as confused as to how you could poll the average while addressing individuals...

But if ANYONE is buying metals to get rich quick, they are just as foolish as buying metals while lacking a fiat safety net. If you are familiar with the scheme and the game they pay, you'd only EVER stack harder the lower the price goes...

The world can't declare bankruptcy on this and just move on, no govs can bail out commercial use and affordability.

Without price suppression, landfills are already profitable to mine for the discarded PMs... We already DO have prices so suppressed that when the scam ends, people will desperately dive into landfills for old ipods.

If anyone plans to capitulate, drop a proton and ill buy your stack at spot. Get out while you can, I guess?

Can I ask why you would want to design one then? What is your interest about in the first place? If you think it's "easy money" then you should just stick to finding a wagie job, because there is far more hard work, upfront investment, and overhead cost than I believe you are able to account for... Considering the fact that you don't grasp aesthetics but seem to be trying to produce it in round form...

But, to answer your question... Its a bass relief, and a statue or figure... It's art. People already invest, and to some the art is free but to others the art is as much the point as investing.

Unless you can grasp why a painting is worth 6 figures, or why people will pay $100 for a photocopy of it as a 'print', then you should focus on what art even is before asking how to make art in coin format yourself.

I look for a few things that when combined increase the appeal:
- intricate detail (up to point where it becomes noise)
- a scene or setting that is pretty,
- a subject that speaks to me on a personal level, such as a place the holds a fond memory, or a topic of interest
- quality craftsmanship - use of different textures, precision of detail
- condition (I eschew tarnish)
- price (the greater appeal, the greater tolerance for high price)
- continuation/completion of a series
- first issues of series (for speculation)

Are you blind or something? It's just a transfert from eligible to registered, minus 700K who entirely left the vault.
If you followed what's actually happening at the comex, you'd know it's extremely bullish. I'll give you a QRD because i fear a lot of frens are in the dark like you.

Basically, there are a LOT of longs for the month of June and July, with 2.5Moz still standing for deliveries for June's contracts alone (8 days left before clearing).
What we are witnessing is JPM displaying their might, trying to scare away the holders of longs and bullying them into closing their position by crashing the price in one hand, and moving a huge chunk of their reserves to registered to prove they aren't afraid to deliver on the other hand.

It just shows how desperate they are. And so far, the traders aren't afraid and are calling their bluff because no position was closed (but for 4 contracts of micro-SVL held by minifishes, accounting for 4k oz, not much out of 2.5M..).
Maybe eventually JPM will manage to strike fear in their heart, or plunge the spot price so low that the traders on the other side of the trade wont be able to cover for it, it's possible considering JPM is free to break all the rules and all the laws without repercussions. But so far they are holding strong on the other side of the trade.

What we are witnessing is a full blown whales' WAR over silver control. And for gold. Even if JPM win this round, the attacks will continue, over and over, because ppl in the known are aware of silver deficits worldwide, they know the banksters are bluffing.
tldr : it's afraid + we are winning.

Why would they make a discount this high unless they know something we don't, if it's true then gold will go down to around 1800 spot and they're doing this to to make a profit before that same coin will go for 1900 without discount in a month or two ,or mabye I'm shitzo who knows

I will confess to being retarded, and am asking for explanation of what "Open Interest" (OI) means. The image says OI is 5 k ozt each, so that means it represents 7.6 Mozt. And then what is the +1042 (another 5.2 Mozt)? How do these numbers related to or affect the Vault Totals?
And lastly, how does one deduce what physical was taken in, or even expected in?

If you're in Europe, it seems gold is the choice of metal, and I'd recommend taking advantage of any bulk order offers of a coin that is local-ish or PAMP bar and that you like. My preference is for eclectic, but I've never had this much to spend at once.
If you're a burger, I'd mix it up among all the PMs, and I'd still go heavy on the gold. For instance, rhodium and palladium are lower than they've been in a long time, and Rh has come down to $5k from a legendary $30k!

No need to confess fren, this shit is opaque and convoluted by design. I myself only have a very basic understanding of it, and i'm pretty sure there is less than a hundred people on this planet who fully master those "arcanes".
>OI = puts and calls currently open on SLV
>1042 = new positions (short and long combined) added yesterday
>they do not affect the vault in any fashion so far, they only are bets on the spot valuation at n+X
But since each open position is met by banksters on the opposite side, it influence them on how to manipulate the market accordingly. For example, if i open calls on 100 contracts, JPM will automatically open puts of an equivalent size. It's like the bank in a casino, so ofc in this situation, JPM have all incentives to see the prices go down to win against me. This is how they make money out of paper gold and silver.
>And lastly, how does one deduce what physical was taken in, or even expected in?
No physical moves with open interests positions, it's all paper. As the other fren answered you, very few traders are interested in settling for physical. Maybe 1% of the OI are actually settled in metal. Most of the time they are closed for cash or rolled over.

>It sounds as if it's all digital and paper, like fiction. If there's no (or little) physical involved
Yup, pretty much sum up the absolute state of our economies since the financial system took over the real economy : it's the tail waging the dog.
But reality can only be ignored for so long. At some point, all the paper in the world don't solve one simple truth : it's not paper who makes us rich or poor, it's the goods backing them up.

All this silver paper don't change the fact that 80 years ago, each ton of silver ore extracted in the US contained 21oz in average.
Today each ton of silver ore extracted contains 0.9oz, and the figure is dwidling fast. Papers can only maintain the illusion for a while, but deep down, i think we all know there is nothing but hot air and lies backing up the financial system.
So don't despair, because if you bet on physical, you bet on the 1% of real stuff backing the most gigantic game of musical chairs in the universe. Don't pay too much attention to the noise (and kvetching) surrounding it, they are just here to distract you from the truth.

silver has been synthesized in a private lab. smart money has been getting out for a while until production efficiency goes up.
gold hasn't been synthesized yet but it's only a matter of time.
the only people saying buy now are jews looking for new bagholders

We can't really predict the future, no matter how vehemently we say so.
However, Pt prices are about average right now, so if the price for those coins follow the spot price at all, it's not a horrible time to buy.

Yeah, those premiums are getting insane. It is a bit irritating to not see a Platinum Eagle not go under 1,000.
I guess I will wait a bit.

Frens, when does the nuclear apocalypse happening kick off? I've added thousands of KI pills to my schizo hoard to trade for terrified boomers' family heirloom gold jewelry when Putin finally delivers, but it's taking way longer than I was hoping.
