If you’re like me, high effort and enthusiasm for a year and a half before realizing no one cares and going above and beyond only gets you more work. You’ll then slink into a “just enough not to get fired” effort, and the realization that this is your life now.

Here's some advice I wish I had gotten earlier. I call it the poorfags path to an easy job.
So, when you get there you're obviously there to do a specific job. As you get better at that job your managers will assign you more duties. When they do, push back by asking which of your current duties you can drop. If none, ask for more money. This will either work, or not. if it doesn't you need to leave as they will burn you out by constantly adding stuff to your day. Which means getting better only gets you more shit with no extra compensation.
If it works you established two things. You're competent as they wouldn't give you more work otherwise, and you demand more money for more effort.
Now, figure out what the stuff is nobody is particularly good at, and nobody wants to do. Do a quick reality check on whether you can get better at that type of work. As in, it takes you 8 hours now but if you learn it'll only take you 1 hour in a couple of weeks.
Also, be the person that has stuff on hand not only for your direct manager but for others as well.
If you follow this simple guide you'll become a specialist in areas the company has few in and you'll reduce your workload over time, giving you either the option to chill or add more, thus get paid more. Good luck.
Another important one: when coworkers come to you for you to work on their stuff you better make sure their manager and your manager are aware of this. It's a good sign because your coworkers want a slice of your skills but it's bad because it will only benefit their visibility in the end. They might thank you and all but management will assume that you need direction.

I started my first job recently. It's not too bad. The first week is the most intense because you'll have this existential horror at how your entire day vaporizes and at having to get up so early in the morning as well as the feeling of uselessness because you're still in training; but there will also be a lot of novelty to it. I enjoyed getting to leave the house and be around people.

After a month or two, the feels dissipate. You get used to the routine. You've figured out how much sleep you need. You know when and how to do certain chores so that you get everything done, and have optimized your schedule so you still have some free time. You've largely settled in and are used to the grind, and you might feel a bit silly about all the stress you had.

From here, you may be acclimated to your job but that's not the be-all end-all. Your life as a whole matters too. If you're saving money, building your career, and able to progress in your personal interests, you'll be very satisfied. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, not gaining good experience, and don't have any other interests you're developing you'll become a neurotic or depressive mess who feels like his life is being stolen from him.

My suggestions:

1) Get your sleep schedule right. Try to minimize the amount of time between waking up and leaving for work because you're not going to enjoy any free-time you have with work looming over you.

2) Meal prep on the weekends. It saves you a ton of time.

3) Find some way to progress your career outside of your job. This can be part-time education, entrepreneurship, or anything else. The feeling of progressing in life is incredibly comforting and it should be maximized.

4) Find some hobbies. Preferably not mindless ones like vidya or football. Something more artistic and human like learning languages, literature, philosophy, spirituality, etc will help fill the void and make you feel like less of a robot.

cont.

I know. That's why I'm not your friend, but all the other people talking and laughing are work friends.
We know you're super hardcore and don't need no one. That's why we leave you alone, exactly what you wanted, but you're still a dick about getting what you want so we talk shit about you, fag.

>> No.55333829

>>55333725
5) Don't allow yourself to feel stress. I'm always super stressed out so this was a big one. If you're not sure you'll make it to work on time, ignore it. If you're worried about mistakes you made on the job, ignore it. You should always be doing something, but it should be in a stress free fashion of coasting through the day.

6) Continuous improvement is key. Normies will do things inefficiently for their entire lives because it's the way they were taught to do things. If you do as little as keep an eye out for ways you can do work faster, or do your chores faster, or utilize your free-time, you'll quickly be able to outpace everyone else.

Also try and get in at least some fun. I get that we're all too autistic to go to parties or talk to girls, but at least do some outdoors hobby on the weekend.

Expect to make it a part of your life. Don't see it as a chore, but see it as a part of you, otherwise you will want to escape and it will destroy you spiritually. Talk to your coworkers, have fun and so forth. Make it a part of your day, rather than counting the hours before you can leave.

If you never want to make more than 1.5-2x entry level in your company this works. This is pay first, work second, and results in OK pay.
If you want to make real money, take on more duties and build more skills, then gun for promotions. Work first, pay second, results in high pay OR you’re an idiot. High risk high reward.
