I think this is true for coins with predominantly numismatic value, but if you look at pre-33 US gold, the proportion of value based on gold alone went from like ~20% on most mid to high MS coins in the 90s and 2000s to more than 75% for all but the highest grades or rarest coins. An MS66+ common date goes for less than 2x spot price, compared to 10x spot a few decades ago.

Latest acquisition. 162€ for the lot!
Might sound expensive, but the coins from the bottom row have a pretty decent numismatic value.
Notice how it says "An 10" and "An 13", meaning year 10 & 13, instead of the normal date. That's when the freemasoniggers took over France and made their NWO revolution. They hated Jesus so much they decided to create a new calendar with for starting point the abolition of the monarchy and creation of the republic in 1792.
They invented new days, new months, new seasons, new holidays.. (not so new, it mostly was a weird mix of greek & roman stuff, ancient egyptian paganism and kabbalistic trash) to replace the gregorian calendar and holy days.

But it was too complicated and was getting ppl confused, especially with the neighboring countries; so eventually they gave up on it after 15 years when Napoleon said "fuck this annoying shit".

I feel like it's mostly true for US standards, as pretty much everything else there, the valuation become absurd and get completely disconnected with what the rest of the world do. I blame it on the speculative mind of the jew who contaminated your relation to money. And the fact you having the reserve currency made you way too "wealthy" and your excess cash always overflow onto stuff like collectibles.

It's not by chance all the most expensives coins and mint errors in the world are from the US, even though they aren't the most appealing (look wise i mean), nor the oldest, nor the rarest. The fact your basic silver junk minted by the billions just 60 years ago fetch a bigger premium than some coins from the renaissance in Europe minted in the 1 million range or so is completely absurd for example.

Using paper fiat is literally the ultimate expression of financial grift you can possibly imagine. Thinking of the U.S. debt as nuclear waste is one of the best analogies I can think of to describe the situation. The fiat system can definitely spurn on economic activity, but it does so at the cost of building up a MASSIVE ticking time bomb in the form of debts. Who buys debt? Where did it all come from? Well, we the people buy it. Every paycheck you send money to your pension and 401k. Every time you spend money on health insurance (or any insurance) that money gets lent to the government. So it is the working class and we the people who are the fuel who funnel money into this leviathan. And it has NO chance in hell of paying back the wealth it owes even if it can print dollars to make whole the debts. It almost seems too simplistic to be real. Literally store value in valuable materials as opposed to a banking system that can implode. Who can pay you what you owe when the government is bankrupt? The banks are imploding? Leverage is out of control and all of the fundamentals are non-existent. Go ahead and stop deficit spending and pay back on net $1 of the nation debt and the economy implodes overnight. What a fucking shit show. There is no way in hell there is a soft landing and even if there is, what happens behind the scene will be Wallstreet propping up asset values, corporations hiring more, and the Fed pumping Zimbabwe dollars into the economy to plug up holes in balance sheets and they will let inflation run red-hot for DECADES. There is no free lunch. And there is a turd-sandwich we all have to take a bite of. And those owning real wealth will avoid taking as big of a bite as other people will. That's the best we can do possibly.

Yes, and that's because i've never heard a single convincing argument for why cleaning = bad tbdesu.
I'm not even sure numisfags have a clear definition of what cleaning should encompass.

To me it should only concern what can actually damage the coin, i.e. abbrasive chemicals, rubbing with hard items and polishing.
Sperging over just some baking soda or water + soap is completely nonsensical to me.

Just gimme ONE legit reason.

Even baking soda is a chemical reaction and soap and water is Theoretically alright but most people fail even at that because they assume you must rub it to clean it (hence abrasive action). 9 times out of 10 people will shit up a coin trying to clean it.

You have to know exactly what you're doing and can employ only the most kosher of methods to have a positive effect on the coin. As I've mentioned before, a quick rinse and pat dry (emphasis on pat, no wiping) with acetone is basically the strongest method you can do for most coins. A few extremely experienced people I know of have tougher more esoteric restorative methods that will fly under a grading company's radar but they are coin wizards with years of experience and you will get burnt trying to imitate them.
And of course the grading companies themselves offer their own restorative services which is basically a dainty cleaning but it's fine when they do it of course (kek)

tl;dr you have to know exactly what you're doing or it's over and everyone will notice. it is not even worth trying for the majority of coins.

Gold is metal, not collectable... ALSO everything can be collected by anyone... Use cases mean things... Collecting coins is just a 2,000 year old fad that wont die out any time soon... Acetone is pretty easy, it's like paint thinner lite and the same consistency as water. You can pick up a pure tin of it at shartmart or wherever.

Use cases will vary between seconds of treatment and days of treatment. Some use it to get fingerprints and such detritus off and some will use it to remove entire caked on bits of gunk. What I did for this particular coin:

>Filled small bowl with acetone
>Set coin down in bowl very carefully to avoid friction
>Left it in there for what couldn't have been more than a minute, wanted to be very light just to get the minute surface particles off
(I left this on the windowsill because the odor is very pungent and will fry your brain)
>Carefully extracted from bowl and trickle rinsed in fresh acetone, some will say distilled water is fine but either works
>Placed carefully on surface and left to dry, acetone will dry itself off pretty fast
>Inspected for any remaining debris deposits and rinsed/dried a bit more as needed
and wallah!

Just be sure to avoid any friction/abrasion and you can't really go wrong with acetone

>the point of copper.
As with any portfolio, diversification.
Here's my reality: I bought all that back in 2012 or so, when it was $7.50/lb avdp. They're "art" bars, stamped, and have the classic designs. This shit's going for $22/lb minimum on ebay now. Go ahead - look it up. Minus the 15% fee ($3.60) and say $5 shipping that means $13.4/lb, if I sold now.
The silver I was buying at the time was about $24/ozt. I might get $33/ozt on ebay (to keep the playing field level - so have to exclude coin shop, which won't take Cu) -15% ($5.05) -$5 = 23.95. Huh, a 5-cent loss.
So that copper shit's worth about 2x what I paid. The silver I bought is about break-even.
The *problem* with Cu is, you need shitloads of it to make any decent profit.
While I'm on this topic, my gold, palladium, and rhodium have also increased in worth. Only silver and platinum have done no better than hold their own.

Is silver and gold really a stay of value? I know some elites are hoarding it, sure. But the Fed can't really just let metals exist can they? I mean if they are all powerful as a private bank then doesn't that mean they can just keep printing money indefinitely to make sure metal doesn't go up or even lowers? I always think back to Judas betraying Jesus for basically thirty six silver coins and it was considered a lot. But now I have hundreds of silver rounds and it is barely worth anything to what it should.

I guess I'm asking is which way will it eventually fo? Will there be a price discovery or will they manipulate it indefinitely. I am assuming both can't happen. They need to print money to stay in power, they would never let even a handful of us into their club of wealth either so they have to keep metal prices down.

>Will there be a price discovery or will they manipulate it indefinitely.
Lets look at one specific example. Silver and Chinese industrial demand
The Chinese know the price is being manipulated and they know that given current estimates reserves will be depleted in under twenty years. What do you think they are doing?
They are buying. Every discounted ounce they will buy and eventually this will force price discovery.
The same is true of any commodity that is being manipulated

ASE premiums are high because the US MInt has an ass-backwards business model for getting their coins into the secondary market. Originally, the silver bullion for Eagles was sourced from the Defense National Stockpile. In recent years, the supplier of blanks for ASEs has come from ONE SOURCE: The Sunshine Mint. What this means is: the US Mint doesn't refine its silver into bullion, and contracts that work to private refineries & mints to manufacture blank planchets used to mint ASEs. When was the last time that the United States Assay Commission convened to verify the quality of silver coinage btw?

Anyway, the tl;dr

>Be the US Mint, bureau of the Treasury Dept.
>Close down the US Assay Commission
>Find way to sell off silver from National Defense Stockpile during the Cold War
>Establish the Eagle Bullion Program in 1986
>ASEs initially minted from defense stockpile
>Oh shit, stockpile is depleted
>No refining & assay capabilities within US Mint system
>Let private enterprise supply silver planchets
>US Mint strikes the blanks into ASEs & AGEs
>Here's what, let's set up a markup regime
>Freshly minted ASEs are sold in 500 coin Monster Boxes
>Have network of Authorized Purchasers™
>Initial markup of spot silver price + $2.50 per coin
>Authorized Purchasers™ break up Monster Boxes of Eagles or sell them further down the supply chain... with their own markups
>Secondary retailers buy Monster Boxes... or tubes containing 20 coins each
>Secondary retailers sell Monster Boxes and/or tubes... at an even higher markup
>Consumer Joe Sixpack buys ASEs from local dealer at $15 above spot
>Profits from ASE sales are slurped up by Treasury Dept.
>IRS is part of the Treasury Dept.
>Seigniorage is a helluva drug

>I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

Corona which means crown, a bow without arrows therefore not lethal, conquering most of the world.

>When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

The Ukraine war, pulling most nations into this conflict to take a stand for either corrupted side.

>you are here

>When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; but do not damage the oil and the wine."

Ukraine and Russia are the greatest producers of wheat, Russian war efforts will cause neglect towards their agriculture and Ukraine has to clear many fields of mines. Furthermore the use of ammonium nitrate for the production of ammunition instead of fertilizer will only increase the coming problem, food shortages.

A denarius was about 4 grams of silver initially, in later stages up until the fall of the Roman empire the denarius lost more and more of it's value trough historical inflation. The content of silver decreased and was replaced with metals of lesser worth. A quart is about 1,1 litres in volume.

No shade, honest mistake, but made me smile. Best bang for your buck is to buy low, and how to get the most for your dollars is to ALSO sell high, then buy low again...

On a derivative market, this seems like "investing", and if you buy for the purpose of sale, you are...

PMs occupy a unique zone, thanks to fiat, where they ARE a good, an investment, and most of all it is money...

As much as I have nothing insightful to answer your question, I can try to broaden your perspective on the situation. A derivitive market might be here to stay (assume it is, desu) but it IS new, and it IS unnatural... To invest without this market: its merchantilisim. Nothing more or less. "Take profits" "reinvest" "hold". They are all the same, it just doesn't look how we have been programmed to see it.

Based JUST on the fact your selling slabbed coins for a profit, your doing the money part right, assuming you reinvest and some of the profits go into a "savings" or "earned profits" allocation, while your "war chest" funds the acquisition for resale to earn profits and buy more.

I just got back from my states biggest coin show, NC. I sold a bunch of silber. My bars I brought I was able to trade/sell at a dollar over spot. My 90% went for 20xface and my cull peace dollar went for 25. I sold a bunch of sliver eagles for 36 bucks each. I never took them out of the tube and yeah, that was cool.

The coin I bought is from the mongol invasion and occupation of China in 1310AD. Glory to the great Kahn!

I've heard rumors that they're going to release a 2 1/2 dollar coin for the 250th anniversary of America in 2026.
Will it be a circulating one or will they restrike the Indian quarter eagle?
If they do the latter I hope they keep the original composition instead of pure gold. It would be cool to buy some brand new ones.
When they released the new silver dollars in 2021 and did them in 999 fine, it bothered me big time.

Yes, any time you see a rate associated with a tbill, tbond, or tnote, it's the APY(Annual Percentage Yield).
