if the network is supposed to handle value, you need to secure it somehow. reputation and trust only gets you so far, but you need to introduce some value at stake at some point

why doesnt ethereum or bitcoin just run on reputation and trust?

this basically. LINK is put up as collateral that promises you will have good service, if your service is bad that link is cut from the bad actor and given to you as insurance

LINK is the guarantee that the network will do a good job and protect your value

The token will likely never appreciate in value because Sergey holds 60% of the supply and the tokenomics is broken beyond belief.

Ofc the baggies will tell you Link will pump to a gazillion dollars but the last 6 years BTFO'd them in every single way

>> No.55290526

So, lets say link is used to run the network or for each "swap". The amount of tokens you need for that is so small that a max supply of 100k link is enough to handle billions of tx. So 1 billion tokens are literally not needed. Thats why the price will never go up outside of speculation. But link will be Security for that reason and kill that momentum too

Sergey held an even great proportion of the value when LINK went from $0.11 to $50.

in addition, if a higher stake means you can handle more value, you can handle more work and get more revenue

so indirectly LINK becomes a gatekeeper to revenue, just like how ETH gatekeeps access to staking yields

this will create a base demand for LINK and better yield on lending platforms like Aave where node operators will borrow LINK to boost their revenue

the only borrowing demand for LINK now is shorting LMAO

so it all becomes a function of how much revenue you think the chainlink network will have, how sucessful will the products and services that the chainlink network provides be

right now there is zero competition, a major feature (CCIP) is coming out soon and chainlink is sufficiently generalized to be applicable to every kind of off-chain computation imaginable

so yea. its bullish, but still TBD how well it goes. however there has been nothing but sucess so far. they mightve been slow to deliver at times, but no competition and security / reliability being of utmost importance makes hurrying up a -EV play

Link's price is tied to BTC
Why don't you buy ETH and BTC instead ?

exactly, so if for example there are $5b in assets being secured, and a bad actor takes advantage of this and the assets fall to $3, then their link is taken and used as insurance
except it doesn't work because link's entire market cap is less than $2.8b

I think I’m not the only one on here that realizes that the Chainlink discussions here aren’t organic at all.

A complex mix of paid shills and bots post memes and start conversations. Real anons browsing /biz/ think these convos are real and start making convos themselves. Then when things die down, the bots and paid shills start again to capture new bagholders.

Shitcoins, no matter the utility, will never amount to anything because normies are too stupid, lower jew York financial district will never let it in, and the government will always go against anything that circumvents its control. Best stick a couple sheckles into BTC and call it a day. Just throw your money where the jews throw it and you will be ok.

Between you and the guy who posted the Eric Schmidt video

Eric in the video even says to Sergey "give yourself credit"

Your posts are accurate, it's interesting to see the chainlink ramp up. For right now, chain link doesn't secure enough network. Ccip and other unfinished products is what's going to push the value of chainlink

The price makes sense right now, people don't fuckin get it it's wild. Link could 100% fail as well if the code is bad. But like you said, link delivers on quality and not on getting shit out fast.

Price for link isn't tied to speculation and hype like the dog coins or the shitcoin projects we have seen moon. If there's a real human reading this post, rewatch the video with Schmidt. Chainlink price is tied to network effect. Network is still being created and finalized. This is the singularity

>Ccip and other unfinished products is what's going to push the value of chainlink

You'll still be saying this 5 years from now. "Soon"

>link delivers on quality and not on getting shit out fast.
They've delivered nothing. Actual staking is still years away, if ever.

>Price for link isn't tied to speculation and hype like the dog coins or the shitcoin projects we have seen moon

Correct, price never goes up outside of the initial pump, which is typical for the altcoin life cycle, one and done. Also funny the implication that Link is a "serious" project... last conference sponsored by VOLT INU and they announce hundreds of fluff NFT partnerships.

> If there's a real human reading this post, rewatch the video with Schmidt
Incredibly bearish. Sergey didn't listen to a word he said and just mumbled "that makes sense" while awkwardly holding a laptop for some reason

The red pill is that the token is needed to pay for services to node operators
The black pill is that those operators need the token to then sell for profit and to cover expenses

From an investment standpoint, the token is not wanted

Pic related explains it. Its simple logic.
If the token was needed it would be going up due to the 10x growth and increase in demand for chainlink service.
