While it is seemingly paradoxical, a labor shortage can co-occur with mass unemployment.

You fell for the college meme. Do you know how to do anything besides repeating what you read in some book? Like actual real skills

i saw a job posting from the federal government where they were looking for somebody who was disabled so they could hire for diversity and i applied and told them i was disabled but i never heard back

>> No.55275474

The "labour shortage" is only for $15/hr menial jobs.

The world economy is entering a recession and more and more people are fighting for the few remaining mid level paying jobs.

There is no labour shortage idiot.
If there was such thing the employers would be looking for workers not the other way around.
The fact that you have to send your CV shows that the employers are in the position of power.

Yes, it appears that paradoxical, but there is a simple solution: employers don't want what's on offer.
If you have a store that sells apples and people want to buy apples, but for some reason, no transactions happen, then you simultaneously have an apple-overstock and an apple-shortage, just in different places. The idea of the market is that all such potential differences can be eliminated via transactions - simultaneous shortages and gluts occur when this process does not happen, i.e. when the market breaks apart.

Here's my thinking
60-70 or even 80-85 percent of needed work is unskilled or trade work
Yet everyone has piled into college or uni
Fact is though, that you don't need that many college graduates to keep the economy running.
So they want tradies, not people that know how to do scientific research (irrelevant for most ppl)
