7 years ago I could've purchased a home with my current job. Now I can't even afford to pay rent with my current job. Why does it have to be like this?

Unlike crypto, the real estate market telegraphed exactly what it was going to do. The timing was the only unknown. I can't feel bad for anyone if they had a chance to get in on the last cycle and didn't. Every cycle, I throw cash at some property somewhere. Cheapies start coming up you have to be ready. Most of the properties I have is raw land, so property tax is low. I get letters in the mail almost weekly from some automated-pretend-to-be-a-small-family-business that offer me instant "cash" for the property. The more letters you get in the mail, the better you know you did on selecting the property. There is a mad amount of competition these days though.
