Contrary to the propaganda, gold is very difficult to fake. Especially when you are slicing off bits of it and weighing it out. I can't think of any way you could fake that. And if the color looked off, it is easy to use a touchstone to verify fineness. Remember, people have been using gold as money for thousands of years with much less tech available than we have now. Much easier to fake paper money.

You do realize that every fiat currency in history has ultimately gone to zero? If you think the USD, whose value depends on the moral fiber of the most incompetent, degenerate, avaricious, selfish assholes the world has ever known, is going to be an exception to this, I think you are in for a surprise.

Every empire thinks it will last forever until it inevitably falls. The empire of the USD is no different. The only questions are WHEN it will fail and WHAT will replace it. Stackers know enough history to place a bet on a return to the ancient standard.

It's all gone, what remains is in the hands of perhaps 4% of the population. Not sure why they would set up an economic system overnight that 96% of the country would be unable to participate in. The best you could hope for is a re evaluation of metals and setting up some new form of currency. It's more likely our advanced economies devolve into something resembling current shit holes like turkey Venezuela and various sub continent locales where pms serve as stores of value.

You are helping to make my point. Barter is extremely inefficient and is always quickly replaced with a system of money. That system of money has, throughout history, been gold and silver coins. When fiat collapses, there may be a very short period of barter (the trading of goods and services directly for other goods and services) but a new system of money will quickly emerge. If you have a better idea of what that will be other than gold and silver coinage, do share. And don't say CBDC because that will never fly.

Yes, most of the gold and silver are now in a small number of hands. As soon as the USD will not buy anything, that silver and gold begins to circulate in exchange for goods and services. Voila! Gold and silver are remonetized. And it will be the difficulties of barter that drive it fast.

I don't think the dollar is truly "fiat." I think it's backed by oil (i.e. the Petrodollar). That's why whenever someone tries to buy or sell oil outside of the dollar the US decides to give them some freedom (like Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein). With the armed forced being neutered by the Left, though, it'll be interesting to see what comes next.

You misunderstand the meaning of the wold "backed". If the USD was fixed to, and redeemable in, a specific quantity of oil, then it would be backed by oil as it once was backed by gold and silver. But the price of oil in USD floats. Hence the USD is no more backed by oil then it is by any other commodity.

And forcing of people to use the USD for certain transactions IS the meaning of fiat - currency by command. So you actually have it all backwards.

Maybe. I think the BRICS will almost inevitably turn to a gold-backed currency. As the Eurofags found out, it is very hard to have a multinational fiat currency. It inevitably moves towards a central authority that controls the amount of currency issued by individual countries. That will never work among countries as diverse as the BRICS and every new member makes it more difficult. The solution is a gold-backed, fully redeemable currency. Then each nation can issue as much currency as they can back with their gold. Problem solved. This is why the Latin Monetary Union worked.

I actually like the car a lot. I'm hoping they take the cheap fake chink vents off the new refresh so I can order a final gaser car.

Fun anecdote of the day. Before we got sent home for COVID, I ordered a nogaro blue ttrs. I ended up sticking the dealer with it and it was sitting on the lot till about six months ago. I wonder if they'll let me order another one.

Another fun anecdote: Pulling over for police is optional when you daily a car with a thousand whp.

When everyone is running off of a cliff and screaming at you for walking the other direction, it can feel a little strange.

If you have any degree of common sense, the actions of global "leaders" and financial "authorities" make no sense at all.

And when you hear major investors and talking heads proclaiming that Gold (and by extension Silver) is a "terrible inflation hedge" and it "hasn't done anything in one of the most inflationary environments we've had in modern times", it can be discouraging. Add to that the endless and nonstop bullsh*t that occurs on the COMEX and LBMA, it often feels like we're being punished for simply trying to do what makes financial sense.

If you can, try to remember that the day to day price action won't matter in the end, because Gold and Silver always account for the endless spending of a government. Always. And when they do, their purchasing power doesn't necessarily go up so much as value finally becomes important. Who wants to trade a house for an obliviated currency? No one. Who's willing to sell a house for a Gold coin or a bag of Silver? We're going to find out.

The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. It's a market fact. So remember to stay calm as you can, educate if you see fit, and prepare your mind/body/spirit for some tumultuous times. They do cometh. And stack your Silver high, educate yourself further, and don't be afraid.

But with a shrunken head of a middle class and diaspora that people have become, how exactly do you go from a treasure hoarder to selling to committed individuals? To me it would be a gamble if I'm well off, or even poor for that matter. People in my life still ignore silver and as others have said normalfags go as far as to look down on you for trying to overpay with silver, as if you're a poorfag. If people don't want silver then all that has happened is the elite bamboozled a few hundred thousand stackers into believing they can retain value, or make a profit.

Correct me if I am wrong, lads...but isn't it baffling we can buy gold francs from the years such as 1860s for just $400? If more collectors existed, the price for such coins would be astronomical huh? It's just baffling you can buy such old gold with so much history for so cheap. I wonder if a day will come where normies will eat up gold and such pieces of history will become impossible to find let alone buy. Kek, i know this feel fren. Last time i got a toothache, it was so painful i emptied a 20mL bottle in just a day, like a *pshiit* every 30 sec at some point.
I've experienced all kinds of pains in my life, from broken bones to 3rd degree burns to stabbing to back inflamations to migraines etc..., but nothing come close to a rotten teeth grinding your gum for hours. The fact the pain not only is 10/10, but never stop seriously makes you doubt there is a all-loving god in this universe.
I almost cried of joy when the dentist pulled my wisdom tooth out forcing like a madman with his pliers kek.

That's when i understood the archeologists weren't bullshitting when they are saying bad teeth/mouth infections were the first cause of death in ancient times.

Amazing. It's such a shame for me to watch old videos of early 1920s France. I would give anything to teleport in that world for a day just to see the bastion it once was. They dressed so well, their restaurants were small and packed with such luxury treats and foods, the streets were safe, and the flow of life bustled in Paris so well. It feels weird to be nostalgic for a place I've never been to but truly France was such a kingdom back then.

Had a similar experience with an engine block cracking at 66k miles when the manufacturer warrenty expired at 60k miles. I should have just driven that fucking thing into a lake and claimed I feel asleep for the insurance money. However, I now only buy vehicles from the 80s or 90s, I personally have one from each decade. Even a smooth brain like myself can work on those, I've been astounded at the things I've fixed on them that would be impossible to DIY with anything modern. Two shitbox trucks is the winning solution. Best case they are both working and you get to feel high class "hmm what truck shall I take today?" Worst case one is broken so you use the other whilst fixing it the broken one. Highly recommended. Pic unrelated.

Wear isn't going to remove the reeding from the edges. It could be clipped and polished, but the details on the face of the coin indicate it's fake.

In particular, when a coin wears the high details get smoothed out while the low details remain crisp. Yours is smoothed on both high and low details, and none of the details are crisp. Most of the details are simply missing.

It appears to be a really awful fake.

Fake coins can be made of real metal. It happened a lot in the past when coins were more valuable than their metal content, and it still happens in numismatics for the same reason. If the weight and content are right then it's just scrap gold and you only lost the premium. If the weight or content is off then you just got ripped off.

I agree with this anon and I have never, for a second, thought I'd be using my gold in the local supermarket, come SHTF or general hurt inflation. You'll just exchange it for whatever the exchange rate is on that day and use the currency to buy your stuff. You'll be trading in a small piece of fractional good each week or two, depending on how much food a 1/2 sovereign, say, will currently buy you and how many mouths you have to feed. The exchange rate will be rising sharply, of course, so that's why you invest in fractional gold, for that type of situation, so your just exchanging an individual piece as and when needed (like I say, every couple of weeks for most people).

Don't know about that specific coin, but there's a lot of "old" coins that have been reissued as bullion coin and the year stamped on it has nothing to do with the year it was minted in.

Waow, with so many fake coins out there how can stackers be safe? I'm scared. When SHTF, how can we use our gold and silver coins if we can't verify them at each transaction? It seems like the cellular and internet networks would have to keep running. Everyone needs to download the apps now! Data will probably be greatly restricted when SHTF.

At first I thought it was a cast fake, but looking more closely at the wear patterns and dings makes me think it's an ex-jewelry coin. The lack of reeding and beveled edge is too suspicious for any forgery so I suspect it was shaved down to fit snugly in a bezel. If genuine it's junk only worth scrap value, but I've seen coins like that with similar wear where there's minimal wear near the edge because the height of the bezel protected it from contact and lots of wear and polish in the center. Coins that had been modified to fit in a bezel and worn as a necklace pendant or used as a fob find their way back into stacks relatively frequently.

People have been using gold and silver as money all over the globe for three thousand years. Do you imagine there are not simple ways to be sure the coin is real? Gold in particular is very difficult to fake successfully.
And modern tech makes it even easier to detect fakes - electronic scales, ping testers, calipers, sigmas etc.

The ease of detecting fakes plus the Isaac Newton approach to fakers clears things up pretty quickly. In a primitive scenario, you hang a sign on your business that says "I test all coins. If you try to pass a fake I will kill you, no questions asked." This will be the law of the land.

Mitchell offers a prediction of the results for the goldmarket: when the manipulation fails, paper and physical prices will separate, with the physical selling for multiples of paper.Similarly silver, with its own unique characteristics for industry andinvestment, is also targeted as a potential refuge for flight from paper, though strangely, above-ground gold is now more plentiful than silver. Addto this a silver short position rolling from one institution to another as eachfails, a 4-year foot dragging investigation into market fraud, and a classaction suit for manipulation and the market has a recipe for a pressurecooker at maximum.Western banks, lacking the gold to cover their obligations, will eventuallydeclare a force majeure—an event supposedly the result of the elements ofnature, as opposed to one caused by human behavior—as a pretext forsettling their obligations in increasingly valueless paper.Where is the resistance to this distortion and corruption of value? Power isflowing East as China and Russia have drawn in massive amounts of goldwhile denying the inflow. The BRICS will unveil a gold backed trade note tosupplant the dollar. Simultaneously, they will force the US debt back homein exchange for real assets, choking the Fed/Treasury on the mountain ofpaper, and grabbing the financial power. This momentous shift is alreadyunderway. What is to be done? Some radical solutions are examined to reset theimbalances of the current system. Money issued directly by the Treasuryinstead of the government would have no debt component, clearing upnumerous imbalances, ending the need for an income tax, and restoringcontrol of money to the people. A Resource Based Economy would endcapitalism, instead focusing on natural resources as common humanheritage. Emphasizing efficiencies, open-source knowledge, and completelyfree goods and services, an RBA would restructure civilization at the rootlevel. Resource waste for profit
