Nothing can stop this bull market, melt-up schizos were absolutely 100% correct.

Governments are printing money faster than anyone can keep up, inflation is sticky, and everything on this planet is about to become 2-3 times more expensive in the next 5 years ( equities included ) .

I'm invested, I'm ready, I'm up 35% this year so far, and I think the market is going to rip up soon once people understand why.

It's not that complicated and I think you're unfortunately overthinking it.
You put sell order for your holdings out there and your broker processed it in whichever way he operates.
Your order most likely did not even reach the CBOE exchange, or any other public exchange that SPY options are traded on.
Very likely that your broker published your sell order to one of the many "dark pools" and as the price of the underlying SPY stock moved "towards" your expectation, a person or automated trading programme which had access to your "offering" engaged in the trade and option contracts & money was exchanged.
Most of this stuff is automated and has been for a very long time.

The bobo thesis is an illusion crated by Powell and the treasury department to lure ignorant investors into shorting every rally in this new bull market, by tricking SOXS and SQQQ holders to blow up their accounts believing we're headed towards another 2008 financial crisis, Jerome Powell can both tame inflation and protect the 401Ks of innocent Americans. "Higher For Longer" is their cry and their folly, it was already priced in, there is nothing that can stop this rally, you are being deceived bobo, close your shorts, sell your bags, join us in market they don't want you to see.

>and as the price of the underlying SPY stock moved "towards" your expectation
Thanks for the good info, but to me it just seemed like the underlying market moved down very briefly to specifically take my sell to close order at 12:02pm and then immediately went back to where it was by 12:03pm. The lowest whisker of the 12:02pm 1 minute candle is where they took my order, they were probably hoping I would move my order closer to them before that moment, but I didn't budge because I wanted to get out with at least a little green. Those contracts are now $0.44 cents, so either the broker I am playing 1v1 against gave me a break and let us both break even essentially, or someone else is bagholding those right? But they had to move the underlying exactly to my breakeven to make the trade happen. Are you telling me that I perfectly timed the bottom today? Or they "forced" a bottom at the exact price that I needed to get out clean and live to trade another day.

On my screen is appears as though I'm connected to all the options exchanges, didn't know my broker maybe isn't actually sending my orders out to said exchanges but rather to these dark pools. In my mind the price that I got out at was a fair trade at the time, which is why I set the price there. I guess the other side felt the same way. IDK, i have to rethink my strategy for the account I did that play in, had a lot of dollars on the line and it wasnt worth the risk for the $60 profit at the end of the day. In my big account it's fine because it's only 1% of my account value. But I was briefly on the hook for like 50% of a smaller account and feel like someone gave me a break. Sounds like you are telling me I picked the bottom correctly, but I know i'm not that good, unless they forced a bottom to come save me. Either way, thanks for the clean exit fellas. Not doing that again.

Did I time this? or did some algo purposely move it to come take that sell to close order? Would that move have happened had I not advertised my exit price by leaving the sell to close order out there for an hour? Did my broker cut me a break? IDK im schizing out a bit here and want to use this trade as a learning experience. So again thanks for the info

You're really overthinking it.

I don't know how many contracts you were trading, but in all likelihood your order size was several thousand multitudes too small to move anything.
No disrespect, this is just how things are.

Price of SPY moved for reasons completely apart from your order, however it moved towards your favor so at one point in time your unknown trading partner agreed on the price you were asking for the puts.
In all likelihood 100% automated action.

>On my screen is appears as though I'm connected to all the options exchanges, didn't know my broker maybe isn't actually sending my orders out to said exchanges but rather to these dark pools.
Your broker seems to show you the order book of several exchanges then. That's normal for "advanced" brokerages.
Next time you post an order, check if your broker provides you with the option where to rout your order. If this is set to a value like "BEST" or "AUTO", or if this field isn't available at all, then your broker is deciding how to route and handle your order by itself. Then it will very likely not appear on any of the public exchanges.
Some advanced brokers offer you the ability to route your order directly to an exchange of your choosing/their availability, but this comes at a price. Literally. "Directly routed" option orders usually cost (a lot) more commission than "BEST" or "AUTO" routed ones. This is how brokers make money off your orders, they sell it and in exchange you get comparatively lower commissions.

it was a 150 lot of 0 dte 429 puts in a $40k account. RISKY. never again. I feel lucky right now, and luck should have nothing to do with it, if you are doing it right.
>at one point in time your unknown trading partner agreed on the price you were asking for the puts.
I am a reasonable fella, I'm very glad my unknown trading partner agreed. But did advertising the 150 lot sell to close order help move the market in my favor?
>Your broker seems to show you the order book of several exchanges then
picrel, I assumed since they showed me all those exchanges, that meant I was connected to them, since I assume they are showing me the best price from all those exchanges.
>Next time you post an order, check if your broker provides you with the option where to rout your order. If this is set to a value like "BEST" or "AUTO", or if this field isn't available at all, then your broker is deciding how to route and handle your order by itself
Looks like Schwab calls it "smart" but I may be able to apply for what they call "Direct Access Order Routing" but it says that there are certain eligibility requirements but I cant find them online quickly at the moment. Looks like I have some night time and weekend reading material to do. Although Smart venue is probably fine for what I do.
>This is how brokers make money off your orders, they sell it and in exchange you get comparatively lower commissions.
So my sell to close order first goes to my broker, who their derivatives desk may or may not be directly on the other side of my trade. And if they aren't or if they don't want to take my sell to close order directly, they will let these dark pools or public exchanges know that my order exists? But my order, when placed through the "Smart" venue, doesn't automatically go to all the exchanges on my picrel? Thanks for the info, is that what this Payment for Order Flow is? Someone is paying my broker to see my sell to close order?

That's correct, but in that situation you'll lose money because the bonds you own have a lower yield than newer bonds. For example check out the chart for VCSH and you'll see that it had a significant drop during the 2020 crash. It rebounded because of ZIRP and QE but that's not a guarantee this time around.
Investment grade corporate bonds are still okay to hold but just know that they will lose value along with the stock market during a downturn. I'd recommend putting a big portion in treasuries to hedge against a recession

No, not at all.
Check the blue box (the DOM) and you see how many lots are offered at both sides on the exchanges. Probably very similar when your trade was executed.

Also, you receiving the bid/ask information (market depth, dom, many names for that) from several exchanges doesn't necessarily mean you could access them with your order.

Your "smart" routed order is most likely not going to reach any of the exchanges you receive that data from.
Schwab processes it as they please.
Schwab itself could have been your trading partner, another Schwab user could've been, another brokerage Schwab is doing business with, some entity on one of the many dark pools, no way of telling exactly.

Be wary that if you get approved for direct routing, Schwab is most likely going to charge you a lot more in commission per contract.

Have been doing a little research, looks like I can apply for free to place orders directly with the NYSE ARCA and the Nasdaq, but that's just for shares, not options. I don't think Schwab lets you pick a venue for options. Going to sign up now because it's free but won't even use it. Watched a video online and the main difference is I won't have to wait 5 mins for the smart afterhours venue to open, will be able to trade afterhours right at 4:00:01pm, which doesn't even apply to me since I don't trade afterhours. But it's free so why not get approved?

They are attempting to measure potential exhaustion points in near-term rallys or pullbacks during a trend. You'll notice looking at any chart that when price tends to move in a particular direction it does so in a pattern. Higher highs, and higher lows in an uptrend, and a pattern of lower highs and lower lows in a downtrend. Simple. DeMark Sequential is merely attempting to determine likely points where the reversal is to occur. 9 Is the inverse entry signal. You shouldn't just use it alone, but in conjunction with other elements of TA, such as being at 4300 key resistance level on the SPX....

Objectively, this market is boring.
VIX is back down to levels not seen since pre-covid. SPY has been mostly flat since rebounding from the March bankrun fears, with essentially all YTD gains coming from 6-7 companies.
Oil is stalled out at $70, despite everything. Gold pinned near $2k. Natural gas has bottomed. DXY rangebound in the lower 100s range. Rate hikes have peaked, or are at least within 50 bps which will be slowrolled.

Aside from betting on reversals for every sudden decline, and betting on random event shit like >>55232975, which is also 100% destined to reverse back downwards soon enough - what else is there?
I've made plenty of money this year, but at this moment in time, things are very boring. Reminds me of 2019, after pushing past that small rate hike cycle and the fall 20% drawdown and all the China trade war fears, the market was just in this.
With the risk free rate at 5%, even this slow grind higher in the major indexes doesn't really mean anything - it's just liquidity.

I'm not saying you can't still have fun trading this shit, but its a fact that this market is comparatively boring.

The truth is you generally can't know when it's gonna go up or down, but you can buy objectively low and sell higher, so then you don't need to predict anything except how much it might go the wrong way. The cool thing about commodities is that you can make a bet on an objective low, and then they just tank 30% below that on some OPEC price war. Then you think that has to be the real bottom, so you go deep. Then the price literally turns negative.

Accounts aimed toward dividends do not earn you an edge and infact it is often better to just buy the market because taxes will eat your dividends.

However a Roth IRA or similar Tax Advantaged account removes the penalty on gains. This makes things like Divies, JEPI and REITs more advantageous because gains are not taxed in a Roth IRA.
