What's even the logic in autosaging a thread as opposed to deleting it? You want to make it so there's only one thread about a topic, but you're non committal and egalitarian, so you let the catalogue decide. One thread was past the bump limit before the other thread was created. The other thread is then autosaged. That thread will always be above the first thread in the catalogue no matter what. Currently looking for a new job and with kids and all that, I want to move out of the city I'm currently in.
Now, easy thing, you say, countryside is better than the hellish cities and cheaper to boot!
Well, here's the problem:
While my city certainly is a city, it isn't particularly bad. In fact, it's pretty nice with low crime and all the amenities you could think of, from an international airport (well, there's occasional flights into the neighboring coutry, so it's an international airport!) to grocers from about any nationality on this planet (I'm not that convinced of the whole >muh diversity thing, but for food, it's definitely a nice thing to have) and very high walk- or bikeability, but not having a garden for the kids to play in, or just being able to take a walk in the forest or fields definitely sucks.
So, countryside it shall be!
However, it turns out that I'm living in the cheapest city of the country which in fact is cheaper than most of the countryside! Looking at the area where I found an interesting job, rent for a similar flat as I got now is anywhere between 300 and 1000€ more per month and wages are actually lower. Well, that sucks.
And just buying a house is even worse. Of course, within the city I won't get much under 1 million, but in the outskirts it seems like you can get decent stuff round half a million and if you're willing to commute, there's a lot of stuff in the quarter million range (that needs fixing, though, but so does about anything under 1 million).
But countryside? Thanks to tourism, there's loads of stuff way above 1 million (essentially all 2nd homes/investment bullshit) and even some shitty, run down, 100k renovation backlog shithole in bumfuck nowhere is at least half a million, because there's some skiing two hills over.

I'm getting really nervous if I'm not solidly in the green after a months end.

And let's say my rent increases by 400€ (which is the low end), my wage decreases by 200€, I suddenly got to commute for 200€ worth of fuel (+ more maintenance for the car and more depreciation due to more use) and the wife needs a car too, since everything outside the cities requires a car based lifestyle, so another 200€ at minimum and suddenly I'm living paycheck to paycheck, with nothing left at months end and I gotta dig into my savings for anything unforeseen.
And since I'm not a zoomer, I can't just simply cancel a bunch of subscription services and OF hoes to free a few hundred €'s, since I got none to start with and I also can't eat out less, since I don't do that either.

Just take up credit upon credit and let the kids take care of it later? I'm just not that kind of asshole. In fact, I'd rather pass on something to my kids, but I doubt I'll get that much to pass on as my parents have or as they got from their parents.

You may want to wait around for a good deal or a promising property auction to turn up, otherwise you might want to get creative and look for a plot of land in or near the city limits that can't be built upon but could be used for gardening/orchards and maybe a source of timber/firewood. Here's an example: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/109-Field-Grove-Ct-East-Peoria-IL-61611/5313025_zpid/ a 7.5 acre parcel for $20,000, in the city surrounded by small house lots that cost $150-200k. It's in a city within minutes of all conveniences and the soil is rich and suitable for gardening, though it would take some work clearing and terracing.
