Is going to university obsolete? I know that some jobs require a degree but it seems to me that all that time and effort for just a possible job that might not even exist due to AI.

What are the alternatives to university? Coursera? edx? Udemy?

You get most of the material for free. University is just paying for a piece of paper to make you stand out from the mass and reducing costs of decision making by hr, and with the current state it produces more costs down the road because everyone got a few degrees. Which makes it worthless as the paper in fact doesn't make you stand out

Yeah. Do your own thing. Ignore corpos and their culture. They won't survive the purge. Profit margins are shit and won't improve in a high interest rate environment. There is a lot of bloat and stagnation about to be swept away. Don't go to the riots, chances are high that the state is going to project his power in the future through a beat cops batons and the AGs that have been giving slaps on the wrist are going to be replaced by those increasing prison slave work colonies

This, you shouldn't go for the "social aspect", the discrepancy between male and female college students on questions such as "are you a virgin?", "have you had sex in the last year?" is the largest gap of any group. chicks and parties are not a thing for the vast majority of male college students.
You shouldn't go for a "better paying job", the data on pays and education is skewed pretty hard by boomers and X'ers that went when college was a "soft IQ-test", almost anything that isn't hard science do worse in terms of pay than an electrician or other "trade eduaction" - and this is the average, at the median college newer college students and far less than trade.

so only go if you don't like manual labour.

Indeed. Never was ambitious and don't see why I have to be. I'm pretty content with a chill, calm, quiet, cozy, simple life in my small redneck town.
>no self discipline
Indeed didnt have for most of my teens and 20s, but I've improved a lot in these last years. Exercise almost everyday, eat healthy, dont fap, sleep early and wake up early, read high literature everyday, I've been learning new languages and how to grow food, go to church every week, help all my relatives with their daily chores everyday.

Also, I can afford to be a "relative failure" before my parents, since my other two siblings are massively successful, my old parents even like that I'm around so I can help them, take care of them and keep company. Obviously if I was an only child I'd feel a bit worse about this situation, but it's not the case. So all in all it's a pretty nice spot in life and Im well aware how lucky I am. Dont have to feel like my family line will end with me, I'm pretty secure financially, I dont leech off society through neetbux like a nigger, and can use my free time to seek and advance virtues, and earn a bit of money through hobbies. I'm specially thankful when I see how stressful is the life of a wagie in this current era. Don't be bitter since Im doing nothing wrong.

Yes. Don't see why I have to. Like I said I'm not ambitious and see nothing to gain from doing so. Don't want a wife since all women became massive raging vicious whores who'd eventually divorce-rape my ass, don't want to work my ass off just to have half my income to be taxed and be used against me and my people, and dont want to be around others since I'm an autistic introvert. I have no incentive to stop doing what I'm doing and see no problem with it.

>give me 5 books that you've read in the last year.

- A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller, Jr.
-The Brothers Karamazov by Dostevsky
-Trivium by Miriam Joseph
-How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas Woods
-Fire in the Minds of Men by James Billington (finished reading this year tho, but started last year)

>> No.55157577

It just depends on what you want, anon. Set a goal and work backwards from it.

Depending on what you study and how capable you are, you can do pretty well with a degree. Many corporations require at least an undergrad for entry analyst positions, and even if you slip in with a diploma, you'll be quickly gated out of higher paying roles. Out of university, especially if you do decent co-ops or have related if part time experience, you can work as an entry level analyst for a financial institution. That should get you between $60-75k. If that's all you want in life, then you can get pretty comfy and accept pay raises year over year. If you want to do more, then senior and management roles will be in reach as you build your career.

In my mind, there are a series of footholds to make in your career where the moment you take one analyst role, you can find any other in a similar field. Then senior roles, mid-management, senior management, etc.

>> No.55157643

No it's not, I did the trades meme and pay hasn't kept up with inflation inb4 "my buddy is an electrician and makes 150k per year" everybody has those stories and they're the exception rather than the rule. At least with uni you can get a comfy office and/or WFH job with more room for advancement, easier work, higher social status. Since its illegal to IQ test for jobs a uni degree is basically just showing you're not a complete retard and the statistics show uni grads make 1 million more over their career compared to non-graduates and this is including the meme "basket weaving" degrees

It’s always been a scam in some sense. It matters a lot to one very particular class of society but since that class has been calling the shots for a couple of centuries, they think everyone should be like them and have a university degree and they also think the whole economy should have jobs that require a university degree.

So is it a scam? Yes. Does that mean it’s not necessary in some sense? No. Still, I basically wish I never went to university. I wish I had just dedicated myself to what I want to do right from the start. The problem with that is that I didn’t know what to do from the start. So if you’re unsure and you can afford it, you may as well go.
