The updated LinkedIn to match the job you want, the new clothes you wear, the carefully updated resume, preparing and practising for the hard interview questions, getting those bullshit certifications, using that old work bro, as a reference, already snooping on the LinkedIn of the interviewers, checking out the time to get there, the parking spots. Looking on Glassdoor for review information that can get you a small advantage, looking for tips how to pass interviews, ordering water while you prefer coffee.

Then you go there, your family or gf is already cheering for you since they think you will get the job. You enter the room and are being told they are in an other meeting. You wait for 8 minutes and then they both come in. The 40 yo HR toastie, dressed like she is still 25 and the 35 yo manager. The guy gives you a sloppy hand, sits down and ask if you want something to drink. You say I'm fine and then the question start. HR is asking the tard questions; why should we hire you, what do you find important in a job. While the manager ask if you can handle pressure, users that don't know what they want and if you mind standing standby in the weekends (wasn't mentioned in the job details). The manager gives vibes that this interview is one big chore for him and after 30 minutes the interview is done. You shake hands, they will tell you they keep in touch. Driving home your reflecting your life. Man you could really use more money, the crypto bullrun probably won't come back and you want to move forward in life. You don't hear anything for weeks, that's because they have their internal preference candidate but they are forced to also do external interviews. After 2 weeks they get back to you, if you still want the job? They will pay you 10% more then your current job, your commute time will get up though...

I actually rather enjoy interviews but I've always been a people person. I don't like sitting opposite more than 4 at once though. 3 is about right and you can form mini-alliances and play everyone off each other. I always try to get them laughing and then be the first to bring it back to serious. This makes them realise you have leadership qualities and are someone they need on the team. Interviews are fun. Dunno why anyone is scared of them. They ain't gonna bite you.

Easy as hell. I would make it as impersonal as possible. I don't want to see your appearance. I don't want to hear your voice. I would make them answer basic questions through email aka not in person and when it comes to demonstrating a skill, I'd have a RELEVANT study guide that is basically a 1:1 to the job. Not some random ass assessment test. That way their score would determine how they'd do on the actual job. The candidate would also know firsthand how well they'd perform which would take away the jitters.

Sure, these things are part of it, but equally if not more important is the way a person presents himself.
