I have a degree in CS that I got from UCI 3 years ago. Since then I've been working as an EMT for a local fire department mostly driving ambulances. My GPA was 3.8 and I'm a natural programmer but I have no experience in the field except for tutoring CS and Math. I have no internships.

Similar. In construction. Did pretty much all the damn group projects too when others never wanted to program. Some professors for whatever reason wouldn't let you break off or somehow penalize you for trying to get out of a group or kick someone out midway through a semester project. As a lead who has probably sat on 100 interviews at this point...it's extremely bottom-heavy. The average programmer is dogshit, and it takes a significant amount of work to sift through resumes to find anyone halfway decent, and even then that's just for mediocre developers who you can trust not to drink glue. Finding actually great developers is like finding a unicorn.

That tracks, the upper division courses at UCI were in auditoriums with two hundred plus people and if my experience in group projects and the professor reading off test stats were any decent indication I'm amazed they even let these people graduate. State cops typically have air patrols in order to ding folks for speeding tickets. Fuel costs are crazy for planes not to mention they need to pay pilots. Wire up a fleet of drones with some form of camera functionality. Write software where the drones themselves can make formation (really just need to be a line over major highways). Have detection for each motor vehicle and monitor speeds. Cars travelling above a threshold take plates and start writing up a ticket. Sell the idea to the cops

I use LaTeX for my resume not word. I pass the technicals in my interviews. Lol I've interviewed for intermediates that had leetcode easies. But I do agree with you and do have some. The things I'm working on will likely have real world application and potentially users which I think will look good. Instead of my hobby projects just out of my own interests
