That being said, American politics has become nothing more than a dramatic reality TV show to most Americans. So yes I'm sure they'll find a resolution, or Biden will just raise the debt ceiling.

Its almost funny that this moment, legitimately a defining moment for our country and our financial future, could be resolved with Biden saying "yeah well fuck that shit imma keep spending anyway".

This country is bullshit inside and out.

Listen man, all I'm saying is that the last time we came this close was 2011, when they passed a bill three WEEKS before the deadline and even that was enough for shit to get fucked up. We're a week out and McCarthy himself has admitted he has nothing. The best they could do was pass a bill that says they'll raise it if there are deliberately unspecified cuts that only even passed because one of the democrats was absent.

I think they probably raise it again, this time.
But I also think, sooner or later, they're planning on creating a sudden deflationary collapse to lock up the financial system and force people into a new system, probably CBDC.
Some evidence indicating this could happen soon:
Student loan payments set to resume in a few months. (No don't pay them off early! Keep being indentured servants to your debt!)
FedNow set to roll out next month. Could very well be the plumbing for CBDC.
Fed has been hiking interest rates at the fastest pace since the '70s. Except now, after supressing rates for 50 years, the national debt is much more unmanageable. The interest payments alone are set to surpase defense spending very soon!
The interest rate hikes also have the added "benefit" of consolidating the banking sector, again possibly making CBDC easier to implement.
Picrel is 10 year yield breaking a rigid 50 year trend. Short term rates have risen even more and faster. I think theres a decent chance it really is different this time.
