I bought 1 oz gold coin in December 2021 and just sold it last month for a cool $200 profit to a local coin store. It performed better than having that money in a high yield savings account I guess

I don’t remember the exact values anymore, but it was a 1oz gold eagle. I bought it for around $1800 and sold it to a shop for $2040.

I also made a similar profit on my silver. I bought 120oz of 1oz bullion for like $25/oz and sold it at $27/oz

Just sell at a premium too.
Ez.
If premiums are so decoupled from spot, what do you think the real price is, hellooo???

I should add it’s important to find a good store. Most of the stores I called only wanted to give me spot, which means I would have broken even/barley made anything. However I found a store near me than offered +$2 over spot for silver and then $40 over spot for my gold eagle. This was after the banking crisis when people were buying up precious metals like crazy

If nominal price has barely moved in the past two years then the real value is being eaten by inflation. If it's just another subject of fake and gay market-manipulating games, it's not a safe preserver of value. How can goldbugs watch it objectively fail at its one job and still tell themselves it's working as intended?

Not zero commission. They could turn around and sell my gold coin for another $200 profit the next day since to buy one was at $2200.

No reason to lie to you either. I’m not saying it was an amazing investment. Just that it performed better than butting my money in a HYSA and technically in the stock market too for the year of 2022
