Yes? And the AT picks up and winds around at numerous points here. I can drive 30 minutes north to PA, or 30 minutes south to WV and hike a completely different stretch. I can also drive into a wooded area around here and get a different stretch to hike on. There are also plenty of other trails around here that shoot off of the AT. It doesn't get boring at all.

That's cool if you're in your early 20's with no responsibility, but 99% of people don't have the time to do that. How is someone with kids, a mortgage, and a professional gonna take off six months to go wonder around in the woods? Most people do 5-10 day hikes, or 20-40 mile overnighters and leave thru hikes to the homeless and college kids.

Interesting, I have no ties to the area (MDfag) but I know people that have vacationed in Asheville/Johnson City and sounds like the region is getting overrun with out of state faggotry. I believe there's growth opportunities in other parts of Appalachia as people are looking for the 'next Asheville'. I was curious about the area but this is going to be the only time I post alpha about Appalachian real estate, as I assure you're fucking full.
