the best you can hope for is to keep clawing in hopes of changing the past
but you did not predict it well and you did not go in and take that risk when you knew you should have and now the opportunity is gone
all you can do is regret with your "riskless strategy" and start hoping each subsequent pullback is the start of a new bear era and the rich people who work hard plan out their lives well make sacrifices and are enjoying every moment willl lose one day

debt default is more complicated than people realise.
It can be resolved, but the process of refilling the Treasury can suck liquidity out of the markets.
There is also the risk of the US getting it's credit rating downgraded; that is what happened in 2011 and equities dropped 10% *after* the debt limit was raised.

My dad called me a day or two ago saying he was worried about the stock market. He's retired and my mom was let go and they're really worried about finances. They have a bunch in US Minimum Volatility funds and some AMZN shares. My dad wanted my advice on if he should sell and just stick with cash.

I dont know what to tell him and I dont know why he keeps asking me for advice. All I do is lose tens of dollars on goofy trades, my actual retirement is in a 401k that I dont touch. What should I tell him?

Genuine question. I dont know what I'm doing and I love my dad but if he loses all his money I'm going to have to fucking pay for his CPAP machine and gabapentin and I dont wanna deal with that.

We spend every week watching bobos lose money and they never learn. Just because the market is going to crash doesn't mean it's going to happen right now. This bull market probably has months left. A suggestion: If you wanted to be exposed to pharma/biotech/healthcare, you could maintain your strategy of holding the industry big dogs (which I generally think is a good one), then you could pick up some companies like pfizer, J&J, Merck, Abbvie as places to start. Another day. Bagged more VZ, rebought my PARAA today. Read another hentai doujin kinda late last night. The skinny; Dude wants to impress his girlfriend so he takes erection pills. All well and good till he faints. Girl takes care of him and while he's asleep the pills uh work. Gets "super cock" Girl pulls down his pants and decides to sample it. Dude's still asleep but not for long once she starts working on it. He wakes up and they end up fucking all night long. Run outta condoms, she doesn't care and fucks him bareback. Morning comes. Dude's huddled in a corner trying to keep his very sore cock away from his girlfriend. He finally tells her what he did to get it. She is now hooked and it's implied that she wants him to keep taking the pills.

Did get some kinda shocking news though. All this time I figured my health insurance would be picked up by the state 100% once I retired. Cause that's how it always was if you were in Tier 1 lasting till age 65 (then I'd go on medicare). Well those fucks in the legislature put this little thing in back in 2008 under the radar that changed that; New hires from 2003 to 2008 they put retirees health coverage into a defined contribution plan. Means the state picks up only so much and the rest comes outta your pension depending on how much or how less your insurance options are at the time. I was hired in 2005. So yeah I still get health coverage and my pension will be nice and fat for life but now some of my pension may be getting punted to health coverage costs. Which isn't that big a deal. But still.

In my experience when you get to this point, you're upset the loss has already more or less occurred and you know it, but you're trying to bargain your way to reverse time and undo the pain you're now feeling. Taking the loss and moving on is usually a bitter feeling, but it stops that really nasty pain of feeling like you're sitting in a tub of acid. If you're lucky you might actually learn something from the experience. Good trades don't make you feel like how you're feeling.

>bad earnings
doesn't matter, multiples expansion because of AI
>debt ceiling
doesn't matter because they always eventually make a deal
>slowing economy
doesn't matter because the Fed will bail everyone out
>bank runs
doesn't matter because big banks will be paid to absorb the banks
>weakening consumer
doesn't matter because they will open up new credit cards just to buy their yearly iPhone, and as long as AAPL keeps pumping indices will go up
>bond yields going higher
doesn't matter because megacap tech companies took out big loans in 2020/2021 and don't need to refinance for a while
>mortgage rates going higher
doesn't matter because corporations will purchase all the houses that people can no longer afford thereby pushing housing prices higher
>food inflation out of control
doesn't matter because Americans will just open new credit cards
>armed gangs raiding Target stealing 500 million per year
bullish because their insurance company will bail them out
>mass layoffs
bullish because companies will save money
>average American becoming more wicked, cruel, insane, greedy, angry, dumb by the day
bullish because it reinforces gambling addiction and allows for multiples expansion

I get it 100%. I think what you're feeling comes with the territory of trading. It's okay to see if things turnaround, just never allow it to get so bad that the condition of the trade goes into life-ending status. Anytime I get that feeling that you have though for me it's usually time to call it quits and start planning my next moves. So far I have always made back everything I've lost. No one likes taking a kick to the balls, but it's sort of what we sign up for. No one plays this game without occasionally taking a kick.

If he was on the Island, he'd probably rob The Millionaire
And be known for wildin' out like Bob Dylan's hair
These clever war tips
You won't get from cats who never wore skips
Now, let's get down to brass tacks
Follow procedure and count stacks like NASDAQ
*snoring* Don't be caught snoozin'
In the early morning hours from a long night of boozing
Stick 'em up, chump, you know what this is
Do the right thing, you might live to see your kids
All he said was, "C'mon, don't shoot!"
So shook, I think he shit his Sean John suit
Why you starin'? (Huh?) Run your chain like an errand
And your girl's earrings (Oh shit), and what you wearin'
Survival tactics for when things get too gritty
He feels it's his duty to the people of the city
Just so long as nobody get hurt
It keep your average civilian on point and alert
And don't forget to check her D-cup
Now I bust how he got this duck for his re-up
Then he's back on the bricks, smokin' indo'
Never let a handy fiend fix your broken window
Oh, wanna hate the witty lurker?
Who follow y'all on the late, dressed like a city worker
OK, miss, come up off that bracelet
Just got your hair did, don't make me waste it
So, go to Hades, get the Devil for his stash
But no old ladies unless you're sure they carry mad cash
Like the one from the liquor store
He watched her for weeks now, ready for the quick score
Before he told her, "Whore, get on the floor"
She pulled out and let off like Quick Draw McGraw (Oh, shit!)
Damn yo, he lucky, she barely nicked the camo
He would've let her have it if he had the ammo
It's all in good fun, true, moral of the story son duke:
Senior citizens'll bust they guns too!

>umm you can't time da market okay?
This entire general is so juvenile and sophmorish, I doubt you've ever had any money in the market or are even over the age of 18 with a retarded cavalier attitude like "dude just hold through spring and default lmao". I bet (if you were actually here which you weren't) you'd be spamming that people are cucks not holding into the covid dump.
