I've had good luck also searching old channelized creeks running through old parts of town, and creeks with shallow sedimentary bedrock bottoms where the heavy metal items can't sink and disappear and instead pile up in concentrated "gravel" bars. Usually .0002" tenths is what im dealing with when im on the grinders or jigborers, but that big machine pictured (aside from a boring bar which achieves tenths no problem) the machine has a locational repeatability of about 5 tenths, so for rebores, i need to locate where itnis on the bore to eithin 0.0000 tenths spot on, often at weird angles. When i turn the knob, all 3 axes move in the manual tool direction mode, its pretty nuts. The moore jig borer we have is pretty crazy too, there are a couple custom made ones that were built in house, that jig borer essentially copied itself into 4 new machines of comparable accuracy. Another experimental machine is one that uses linear motors (think an electroc motor unraveled like a rug) so it positions itself, its not very accurate but it leaves as good a finish as its a constant moving path for each pass. Plus if it crashes, there is no damage to any leadscrews, it doesnt have any, mainly its used as a 3 million dollar planing maching that could have had this $50k beast do the same job in pic related. Oh yeah, the coils on that electric machine are made of a silver alloy never seen them but them make a nice hum when the machine is moving, like a scanner but bigger and an octave lower in pitch it sounds like a robot literally is.

Hey. I live in a house in the historical center of a Mexican city.
It's a very old house (at least 200 years old). The lower part is made of approx 4-5 feet of Adobe, with some parts in stone. And the upper part is made of bricks ( an expansionbuilt early 20th century).
The neighbouring house don't have this upper level so I dominate the whole block. Also we are almost at the top of a hill.
I store 2mt of water in big plastic tanks on the roof that give water pressure to the house when the water is cut and I have solar panels. I plan on expanding.
I am digging a 3m3 cistern underground connected to the tanks with a submersible pump to increase my water resilience.
