DAGs are overhyped. They were all the rage when AVAX was conceived though, so they combined a DAG with the asset creation/payment VM to shut up the 'muh VISA' faggots. Turns out though that exchanges don't like integrating with DAGs and DAGs also tend to limit some of the features that a VM can implement. X-chain is intended to become the asset origination and token exchange hub, so it makes sense to allow more rich smart contracting features and easier integration with CEXs. The DAG doesn't actually add much if any speed and can actually slow down throughput if there's a lot of contention or dependent transaction flows. Avalanche derives it's speed from the consensus level sub sampling and metastability aspects, not the data base or VM or whatever else, that's the whole point on why it's such a breakthrough compared to every other shitcoin. Avalanche can absorb any good feature or tech and run it faster and more decentralized than whatever the OG chain can
