hello /biz/ i am getting my first credit card
do i want one with 1.5% cashback or one with points with 2x on gas and dining and 1x elsewhere
i have never done this before so i have no idea which is better. both are unlimited i think

>> No.54909529

get the 1.5 cashback one
also its pretty much useless either way you go
rewards from credit cards dont matter til you get the highest tier travel ones, and only then they only matter if youre a peak CONSOOOMER that eats out everyday and spends thousands on slop per month
just build your credit for now and ignore everything else

1.5% cashback one probably more worth it in this instance if there is no fee.

if you have no credit history you probably cant get either of those or any card like, that you will have to get either a very low limit (like $500) card or a secured credit card where you give them $500 and you pay interest on your own money, extremely gay but builds credit history. If you do have credit history get citi doublecash, no annual fee 2% back best one I have found.

think i should automatically qualify for it if i understand correctly

unless you have a cosigner i doubt it but idk, good luck anon. I did a delivery job in the early 2000s where I delivered liquor to people from stores and had to buy it myself and get reimbursed, I spent 250k on liquor through my cc's and I learned that points are absolute bs, maybe if you travel all the time but I am a wagie so not me. I was a diamond black select whatever tier(top tier) and all I got for that was a slightly better points per dollar rate and....free access to some shitty lounge in an airport, oh wow amazing. Dont let them fool you with the points, never pay an annual fee.

Citi cashback card is 2% back on all purchases. I recommend it.

Apparently, American Express gold gives the best for groceries and other daily stuff. If you get the platinum card alongside it you'll be able to transfer points around and travelling ends up cheaper. Chase also does this same deal.

ok i qualified for it but the limit was low as shit so i'll just have to increase it later

sounds good. honestly im not sure what the point of credit is anymore tho, my credit is a bit under 800 and I have about 50k combined credit available....can you imagine how hard I would fuck myself if I actually put 50k on credit(i work hard but not rich, not six figs like everyone else on biz etc). Not that they would actually allow me to spend the 50k that is "available", I bet I wouldnt get past 20k before they start shutting down credit cards. And the end game, the whole reason for having a good score used to be to buy a house, cant afford a house even though I go to work everyday and have been for almost 20 years. Oh well. Good luck with the goy points anon.

i would LOVE for someone to make a post/documentary about how long you can actually debtmax for, I laugh about this all the time but no way you are rolling over debt forever.
