It’s because of mobile banking chuds, 10+ years ago before smartphones you needed to actually sit at a computer and log in then initiate a withdrawal but now anyone at anytime can empty their account with a device in their pocket which means mass withdrawals happen before banks can respond

Lmao that's retarded. We're not comparing standard of livings here. Based on actual impact washington mutual was much bigger, adjust for share of deposits or something not inflation, it should be twice that size.

The biggest bank failure in history was probably New York's bank in the great depression it was 5% of the entire money supply would be like >$1B today.

It omits the investment bank failures and shotgun weddings from 2008-2009 because they were not banks by definition. Also the finance departments of insurance companies and various other entities (like GM) that were acting as investment banks or shadow banks.

I'm not entirely sure where all the risk got pushed this time.

New regulations created the private lending industry. Non-bank financial entities lending directly to businesses. Blackstone’s GSO unit is the biggest. They use money from pension funds, wealthy investors and listed vehicles (BDCs). That’s who’s holding the bags this time.
