I'm not sure, actually.
After you hold the shares for two months, the dividends will be "qualified," so, at the federal level, they'll get taxed like long-term capital gains rather than income. That's a fairly low tax rate.
>But even if it's a low tax rate, dividends are still getting taxed, so it's good to put them in a Roth IRA or 401k or whatever to avoid that, right?
Maybe. But if your Roth IRA is loaded up with dividend stocks, it's not well-diversified. Statistically, dividend stocks tend to be bigger, older, value rather than growth, more likely to be in the utilities/financials/etc. sectors... so it's not a good cross-section of the overall stock market. So you'd expect lower long-term returns, meaning you won't be taking full advantage of the Roth IRA's tax features even if you somehow balance it perfectly with your taxable accounts.

Powell noted that at one time full employment was less important than inflation, and that under his office it was his intent to see them equally, if not more facing toward employment.
What that actually means, I don't really give a shit, because right now I'm looking at a US economy that is seeing all-time-highs in productivity in vehicles, power generators, and parts for these two necessities of modern life.
Which tells me that all kinds of facilities in the US and globally are seeing business opportunities. Which tells me that all kinds of business will be undertaken making all kinds of goods and services.
Which tells me that the Ichans of the world who can't see past their instinct to fuck it if it moves, will have to watch as inflation gets beat by actual human productivity.

I'm more concerned about markets going higher before we drop. I don't want to bag hold...

There is also a massive confusion in bearish/bullish sentiment.

Bulls think everyone is bearish. Bears Thinks everyone is Bullish...

But the VIX tells me everyone is BULLISH. there is ZERO FEAR in the markets. CNN greed and fear index was at GREED, and we may need to head over to extreme GREED before we crash. That is what is messing with my HEAD.

Nice ESL or stroke mid-sentence. You already are bag-holding, you're focused on markers instead of the market.
Unless you can explain what that actually measures, it's a fucking toy.
The number of businesses that will be raising Divies is going to go up this year, is my suggestion to you. That means tax collection goes up, that means money in the economy goes down, that means inflation goes down domestically, and that means we're that much closer to you getting a possibility of cheaper lending.
But I don't play cash on cash, since I think eating and having a family and car and dog and home, etc. etc. is really more of a central goal to having cash, and people who live on cash alone will have no teeth shortly.

>Leading up to the Fed’s three cuts last year, Powell admitted in July during his semiannual testimony to Congress that officials didn’t get their estimates right, adding that joblessness can go much lower than officials initially thought without stoking inflation. That revelation also meant that interest rates were restricting growth more than officials thought. That’s something Trump had been claiming all along, with the claims appearing as early as April, before the possibility of rate cuts were even on the Fed’s radar.

He said, like half a dozen times, that there was a good chance of pausing after that Q hike. That the rest of the year would likely be a pause, with a possibility of a late year hike.

Ukraine was a huge shift in global needs, the idea that Russia is openly talking about nuking Europe, is a shift. Cash being too hard to get will reduce the ability to get remedy to Ukraine, and to the US troops who will be increasing readiness. Combined with Dedollarization, there is reason to let US buyers get capital, most specifically in industry, and secondly in certain real-estate sectors, imo. I haven't quite nailed the real-estate, that's gonna be more granular.

COST is the very definition of the American CAN DO attitude.

>“I came to (Jim Sinegal) once and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.’ That’s all I really needed. By the way, if you raised (the price) to $1.75, it would not be that big of a deal. People would still buy (it). But it’s the mindset that when you think of Costco, you think of the $1.50 hot dog (and soda).

>“What we figured out we could do is build our own hot dog-manufacturing plant (in Los Angeles) and make our own Kirkland Signature hot dogs. Now we are doing so much hot dog business that we’ve opened up another plant in Chicago.

>“By having the discipline to say, ‘You are not going to be able to raise your price. You have to figure it out,’ we took it over and started manufacturing our hot dogs. We keep it at $1.50 and make enough money to get a fair return.”

No, changing those conditions externally, then you're right.
But seeing those conditions coming and what they will do internally, those remain in FED purview. Dedollarization is going to increase USD speed globally. The effects to internal US will be based on their buying power internally. Which is also a place where the FED stands. They took the printing power from Congress which would have done this in some fashion, when it still had time and brains.

And I don't expect him to fix everything. The free market is supposed to do that. His primary job is keeping enough cash in the market to keep people employed, and keep bubbles and depressions from forming. There will be a price-out of US dollars for foreign held USD.

>Reality is truly what ever the media says it is.
That's not true of everything, but yes, it's true of self-fulfilling-prophecy things like bank runs. Media people must love social institutions like banks and elected politicians that are inherently vulnerable to loss of faith because then they're vulnerable to the media.

I'm retarded. Diversification is supposed to be free lunch and lower risk (low correlation assets) while increasing returns but then why do people say that 100% stock portfolio beat a mixture of bonds/stocks in the long term? And that bonds only serve to lessen the dips the equities take from time to time.
Are they just extrapolating historic data? Am I the retard or are they the retards?
