best way to preserve is to can. tomatoes are the obvious choice for canning i suppose. beans probably keep for a while. you can also freeze peppers for a long time and they grow well.

Learn to love radishes. Theyre great pickled, and they grow like weeds. Other than that, potatoes are a good beginner crop, as are onions and garlic. Stay away from carrots. You will never grow supermarket quality carrots in your back yard.

Any kind of pepper or tomatoes. Get lots of herbs and carrots, grow everything you can in your area. Make sure to go to local nurseries over big stores like HD or lowes cause they actually carry what grows well in your area and have more variety. Plenty of great youtube channels. My favorite channel is self sufficient me.
