everyone knows that monero is the only crypto with a real use case. they are just jealous so they try to create some absurd fud or they pretend to have some higher moral ground to criticize people using xmr.
fuck them all, keep trying to merge crypto with chatgpt and cbdc's as well as pretending that btc is fungible.
irrational markets MIGHT keep going forever but rational markets WILL keep going forever.
OH WHAT'S THAT? you coin doesn't have a use case? then i guess its not a coin, its a shitcoin.

if all monero coins are tainted, in other words monero is illegal worldwide, then how is some self mined xmr going to help?
all xmr is equal, you have no way to tell if it is freshly mined or not. you don't even understand how xmr works.
in venezuela the dollar is completely forbidden as a currency but people still use it. WHAT! HOW! IT IS FORBIDDEN!!!1!

>> No.54775884

>>54775786
self-mined xmr (with a view key) can prove you mined it yourself, to your keys, to an extent.
it's the closest thing to untainted xmr that's possible on monero. everything else is tainted in the same way bitcoin coming out of a mixer is.

>illegal worldwide
no, just as illegal as any other banned cryptocurrency in these fantasy scenarios. xmr baggies just don't understand how monero as a whole can be trivially treated the same way tainted bitcoin is treated.
in other words, "tainted bitcoin" is not an argument FOR monero, it's an argument AGAINST monero.

>> No.54776016

>>54775884
worst case scenario, all monero is tainted.
rn monero is banned in some countries in different degrees, but that doesn't stop people from using it. now you might say the same thing about btc, it can be tainted but people will still use it and that is be true, but the difference is that if some btc is tainted and some btc is not then the same coins no longer have the same value.
not to mention the obvious lack of total privacy.
why go the extra mile to get more problems? just get xmr.

investing? i don't know about that, i wouldn't recommend it as an investment.
as a currency i would only recommend it if the thing you want to trade can only be traded with xmr, monero only markets.
monero its a coin, use it.
its time to stop moon faggotry and try to look a little beyond, otherwise keep betting on dogcoins and aicoins, i have nothing against that, they are just risky ((investments)).

Do any of you chuds know how I can find the xmr I have on my ledger? I have been trying to restore from hardware with the gui wallet and I have made sure to back date the sync to well before I bought the Monero but my balance is still showing zero. Any advice is appreciated.

did they change the derivation path?
ledger has a funky way of creating your monero private key that's completely non-standard and which nobody else uses.

they have a github with some code you can use on a secure machine to put your seed in and it spits out your monero key.
if that key doesn't work when sync'd in a wallet then you might be able to change the derivation path if it did change and get the old one where your funds are.

but you're on your own. i'd never own a ledger after they leaked everyone's personal info. closed source too. glowing.

monero has a very old seed format. non-standard, based on the old obsolete electrum seed standard. ledger generates one from your normal bip-39 mnemonic, but you can't access it without running some software on your computer.
you just need to use whatever software you saw your coins in again with your hw wallet to get them back. the monero app on the ledger is what generates the key i believe, so if that changed your monero keys changed, but there should be backwards compatibility.

>>54776530
you can use drugs and gold to offramp tainted bitcoin, tainted cash, whatever you want. that's not an argument. an argument based on tainted bitcoin affects monero in the same way. the black market is fine with both, the white market won't accept either, but you're more likely to find somewhere that accepts tainted bitcoin than supports monero at all.

it's a legal issue, because taint is a legal construct.

i think you can export your view key while using a hw wallet so maybe just try importing that as a view only wallet and see if that shows your coins up. if not then something has changed the key.

I'm a monero maxi, but I admit monero's utility is as a currency and not as a store of value. Normies/colorcattle will NEVER EVER actually care about privacy and the fact the PATRIOT act still exists 20 years later in the "freest" country in the world should indicate that.
If XMR ever becomes a useful speculative store of value, it'll only happen when XMRUSD (or whatever you would call a stablecoin using monero's privacy tech) is introduced.

>monero's utility is as a currency and not as a store of value
a good currency is also a good 'store of value', it can't lack the 'store of value' property. otherwise its a pointless currency.
>Normies/colorcattle will NEVER EVER actually care about privacy
100% agree with that. ppl still use whatsapp knowing that meta have access to everything they do within the app. the worst part is that they have many options to avoid this and still they don't.
> speculative store of value
> speculative
sorry but the word speculative should never be used in the same phrase along with the term 'store of value'.
