>According to the note, Americans who make more than $200,000 per year have filed for unemployment benefits at a record pace in recent weeks. That could ultimately give employers more leverage over employees and lead to slower wage growth.

>An estimate of 113,793 unemployment claims were filed by Americans earning over $200,000. This is the highest level since the pandemic and the trend shows this is accelerating higher, with this week likely to be the crossover point where the unemployment claims of over $200,000 earners exceeds unemployment claims of under $25,000 earners," Fundstrat's Tom Lee explained.

>The surge in unemployment claims for high-income earners comes after a slew of layoffs at mega-cap tech companies in recent months, including Meta, Amazon, and Alphabet, among others.

no, the average tech zoomie spends about 800$ on subscriptions and 1200$ on food (delivery, restaurants and starbucks). their 1 Bedroom apartment is 3000$ they happily pay to experience the hustle and the bustle of big cities.

Don't you realize what is happening here? Artificial intelligence is about to be released on a massive scale and replace the majority of coders, computer scientists, engineers etc and make jobs like accounting and even attorneys obsolete. White collar jobs are done. If you sit in front of a screen all day and make 150k+ then prepare to be replaced. If you have real skills then you will be safe. Artificial intelligence is inherently deflationary. (((They))) are using inflation and recession fears as a way to lay people off, when really companies will be adopting AI to replace workers. Covid was the beginning of the reset, now comes the next phase. Save as much money as you can and try to buy land and learn skill sets that will make you valuable or you will not make it through this.

It doesn't mean they're poor, they applied for benefits because there's no reason not to do it

Very good advice, If you are a symbol worker and you are not actively preparing for this you are NGMI. See pic.

what uhhh what exactly is the job of a mathematician? You either become someone who continues to teach maths in academia. God forbid you actually try and pry in to unsolved problems (you will die poor even if you solve something). I feel like most maths students go in to wildly different fields and are useful on the premise that they can translate mathematics in to said other fields.

So you're a high functioning autist with a 150 iq or something. That's extremely rare and most people aren't like you. The only companies that pay that much are the tech giants and they hire something like 0.1% of the applicants that apply to them.
