That's good advice if you want to keep a decent job you like and retire comfy. That was my scenario at one point too (except hated the work and other life circumstances made it so I didn't have to continue working in order to pay my immediate bills, so i started to learn about trading). But if you want to NEET, there are no more IRA contributions, you need earned income for those, to which you won't have any due to your NEET status. It is possible that free gibs could maintain an acceptable standard of living for you, depending on your personal spending habits, but like you said you don't qualify for free gibs yet. You need to find a way to generate enough income to pay your bills. $50k retirement and $50k regular both being passively invested isn't nearly enough. You need to get active if you want to NEET. Or get on gibs. Or do some other flip or hustle if you hate your career so much (I did).
