Who the fuck gets approved for this shit? I am willing to pay these fuckers $400/year to use their fucking card. They're not the black American Express card, why are they being so stuck up?

I am "unemployed", went to the airport on vacation with my girlfriend and i was stopped by a lady in a kiosk who asked me what kind of credit card i had. I showed her some fruit coloured thing and she goes "do you want the miles" and I was like ok show me what you have.
I then proceeded to read through the brochure and realized the black card was the only thing worth making a switch.
She did my application for me, i nodded when she asked about income, i own my own home etc... $17000 limit black card lmfao.
That was about a year ago, i think it might be tighter now but that was some 2007-2008 vibe stuff.

From what I understand they want younger people with poor credit utilization but who also pays off their debts. They want to make interest payments off if people. Me I pay my cards off before the due date which might have affected their decision. I also switch cards a lot(apply get bonus rewards, leave) which might also be the case.

Capital one hates people like you, simple as. They want people to pay interest, late fees, and other bullshit fees on their cards. They usually approve you if they can see some late/missed payments, or a bankruptcy on your credit file. They also despise people who regularly open and close cards for the signup bonuses

>in b4 that’s stupid

That’s just the way it is. No issuer comes close to being as bad, except maybe Citi, but at least Citi usually approves you for certain cards of theirs no matter what. Citi is only restrictive on their own branded cards (cobrands are fine), unlike Capital One who won’t even approve you a Walmart card if they can see you never make a mistake

OP here, never mind they called me out of no where. Apparently I wasn't correct in one of the information, but they didn't account for the fact that I tend to pay off my rentals pretty quickly. They thought I had like 250k in debt but I paid it off since the last refresh to my credit.

Kinda weird that they gave me only 30k for my credit line though.

>they pay you $5 a year to have their card
$5 is still $5, plus getting an additional 5% off placed like eBay or amazon is nice. As well as free access to business class lounges.

>> No.54705362

I was pretty butthurt when Citi denied me for a Custom Cash card late last year. I have had a lot of inquiries and new accounts. I was going to use it solely for gas stations to get 5% back on gas, but ended up signing up a month or two later for the Gemini CC when they were offering a promo 10% back for the first year on gas purchases. So fuck 'em. Still would like to get a Custom Cash eventually, though (along w/some other cards that are inquiry and new account sensitive, Chase Freedom Flex, Kroger/US Bank card, etc.) and then product change my current Double Cash to a custom cash so I can have both as 5% cards dedicated to different categories.

I guess I get it too though, most banks probably lose money on me. I don't churn CCs, but I do chase that cashback and never carry a balance.

>> No.54705421

>>54705362
Most banks lose money on me as well, like I just get the bonus rewards then after a year I cancel the card. This was what I thought they denied me for but they said it wasn't that since Chase was their direct competitor. Chase Reserve is a good card but the $500/year sucks. Plus I hardly go to the moves nor do I stream shit because I hate woke Hollywood. Add to that I don't use Ubereats/Online groceries because I hate tipping niggers. And there is no reason to have Chase.

I do spend a shitton using them to quickly earn points, like I will be leaving Chase with 100k pts to my name. Best thing to do with reward cards is to pay everything using them then paying them off before the interest hits.

I don't care about Apple, I just like the 4.15% with no hidden maintenance fee. I don't get why /biz/ would hate this? Sure something like CIT or UFB is higher but its takes forever to get money out unlike Apple. Plus customer service for these banks have work hours that isn't compatible with mine. I would also think that the increase in offerings from these banks are a result of Apple entering the market.

I just got this card like a week ago, FICO 795, do not own a home not have as much in savings as you. Did you just get a bunch of credit cards recently?
I got the normal venture capital, the BILT and a Chase Business card last fall, and then thye rejected me from this one, just applied like a week ago and got it though, likely becuase sufficient time had passed since my last new CC.

IU think i might actually keep this card long term to be honest, decent benefits and the annual fee is basically non existence since the give $300 travel credit and 10k miles yearly, way better than the amex platinum or the chase sapphire reserve

Depends on what you are into, you like buying tech stuff then the Amazon and Discover cards are nice. Discover cards have things like PayPal, Amazon and Bestbuy. All of which happens during the 3rd/4th quarter. If something you want go on Black Friday sale, if you buy it via Discover you get an additional 5% cash back. So hang onto those especially since there's really no fee associated with them.

If you travel at least once a year there's really no reason to get anything other than the Venture X. It basically does the same thing as the Chase Reserve but you get $400 cash back from its $395 membership fee, so basically you get $5 for using their card. For Chase you're just going to have to pay for their membership fee which is $550.

If you don't and just want its basic rewards the free cards basically do the same thing.

Capital One is one of the most annoying ones to get your foot in the door with.
If you don't have 1+ years of credit card history, they're not interested.
But if you have TOO MANY credit cards over your years of history, they're also not interested. They want customers they think will use their ecosystem exclusively.
You can try opening a checking account, then try again in a few months as long as you didn't open any other credit cards.

Probably because the value proposition for the Venture X is higher than the Platinum+Gold, you need only read an article or watch any video reviewing the venture x made in the last year to see that
