Crypto doesn't have this problem. Especially not Monero. Even with Bitcoin you can move the equivalent of billions of dollars "across" any "borders" (borders don't even exist in crypto) without anyone being able to do anything about it, and if you didn't KYC to buy the coins then they're not in any way identifiable as connected to your ID etc; nobody knows who transferred the coins. And you can run them through Lightning which effectively anonymizes the transfer. Still though XMR is naturally vastly superior in this regard.

this, gold standard wasnt an option , all he had was german willpower. really just goes to show that none of any of whata going on really matters in the end, its simply the will of a people to say that theyre not going to tolerate being mistreated anymore. gold standard is nice, but its a tool and nothing more.

Ignoring for the sake of argument all of the Nazi gold that ended up in Switzerland, do you know how to get gold if you don't have any? You produce goods and services that people want and they pay you with gold and silver. Yes, I know the Treaty of Versailles made that difficult. But not impossible with time, hard work, and skilled diplomacy.l You know what is a really bad way to get gold and silver? Start a big fucking war. And before you say he had no choice, remember that fascist Spain had no problem avoiding it. Fascist Italy could have avoided it too, if they hadn't thrown in with Hitler.

Instead of leading the people into sacrifice, hard work and careful diplomacy, Hitler chose the easy way- get the people emotionally charged up with pride and resentment and lead them into war. Didn't work out too well, did it? That makes him a shit leader.

In 2011 a great meltdown of granma's silverware also helped to tamper the price by adding tons of already refined metal to the markets. Was a saving grace for the banksters.
It was the first time a run on privately owned silver was helped by 2 incredibly powerful tools : internet and ebay.

But this kind of opportunity was a one-timer. Grannies do not have any more silver left in the drawer to ditch (and it was the silent generation who were the last to own silverware, who was in turn sold by their kids in 2011, but boomers are complete silverlets themselves) once the ounce breach once again the $50 bareer.

So for the next run-up, banksters can't count on this kind of providential supply to save their asses.

Fuck off. I'd trade away all the gold in the world to have a new Hitler.
And you are next-level ignorant if you believe Hitler had any other option left. He did everything possible to avoid an armed conflict involving the german people. The jews forced him to go to war, they and Churchill even bragged about it in their memoires.

He knew there would be no victory possible against the entire anglo-judeocracy, but he still fought with all he had to offer. Actually, he could have made this war last longer if he was inhuman like the commies and anglos, but anytime he had the opportunity to not hurt civilians and avoid useless bloodbaths for the opponent, he seized them.
He was as ethical as one can be in modern war times, even though modern wars are the antithesis of ethical.

Hitler literally was one of /us/.

His economic system basically used labor certificates as their currency. And Germany had prospered before there was any war. Hitler didn't want war, but he was provoked by anti-German attacks both from within and abroad. He started to build good relations with Poland until their leader was replaced with someone who was staunchly anti-German. He tried to work out many deals to peacefully gain Danzig and even proposed letting Poland have an access road to it, and then proposed letting Germany have an access road to East Prussia when that deal didn't work. But all were denied. Eventually he was forced to intervene after numerous border skirmishes and anti-German attacks. Jews had led a boycott of Germany before Germany did any boycotts against them and many had been outright calling for the destruction of Germany. Hitler made numerous peace deals with the British, but Churchill denied all of them. Churchill on the other hand had been wanting war with Germany years before WW2 began. Hitler never wanted war.

Spain didn't participate in WW2 because they had been too weakened from the civil war they just had, and their country was in ruins, and they never had the same level of prosperity Germany had, after WW2 Spain had also purged more hardline fascists.

The Jewish international banking cartel were upset not only that Germany freed itself from their control, but were also upset that Germany had also prospered because of it. They saw that as a threat to their control and so they had to get rid of him and destroy what he built. (Fun fact: Hitler's government was the only one to ever arrest a Rothschild)

auctions set the value.

like redbook value. If every dealer lists ever coin at redbook, the price will never go up. Prices go up because people at auction big higher than book value. Making book value go up.

as to why someone might bid higher than book when stock is still listed at book value elsewhere, maybe it's not the same stock. Or the same quality. Or they don't know some is for sale elsewhere. Or it might just be ignorance. But no matter the reason, whatever they bid is now what the item is worth. 2 people bid $500 more than book value, and the book value just goes up $500

>> No.54676459

>>54676247
the other factor in setting worth is that you actually pay to find a better deal, right?

Like you have to spend time shopping around for the better deal. You have to research, check prices. This time has a dollar value. For most people that dollar value is much higher than your time is worth. So say my time is worth $250/hour and it'll take me $1k worth of my time to save a couple hundred dollars, I'm better off spending the money instead of the time.

this is a cost poor people don't generally calculate, but poor people are also not usually buying rare coins at auction. So they see moderately wealthy people blowing money and can't understand why they'd do it. Often it's just a matter of saving time.

for the price to go 10x you need at least 2 bidders bidding 10x

I kind of want to get an older gold coin but it feels weird paying 2k when it was a few hundred less a few months ago.

Also, for new customers to sdbullion, they're offering a small amount of silver or gold at spot. Their 10g gold bar has a weird holographic thing on the back. Am I the only one who doesn't like that?

on ebay you can't see the bid, and you can't lower a bid without retracting the high one.

I "overbid" on lots of coins if I really need them. That's why prices go up. Either way, the coin is worth whatever I'm willing to pay for it, unless it's really common or something. But I don't buy common coins.

I underestimated that perth kilo. I thought they were sloppy compared to other bars in the same class like the Germania Kilos, shiny and chonky. thanks, I'm usually interested in different attitudes towards money in poor people vs. rich. I have been both so I feel like I have some insight on the topic.

I am frugal, but not in the ways you think. For example if clipping coupons will save me $50k per year I'll hire someone to clip coupons for me and pay them $20k to do it. I won't clip coupons myself, that's a dumb use of my time. Posting here is also a dumb use of my time, but I enjoy it.

The other miscalculation is taxes. If I overpay for a coin you can bet I'm writing it off either as a business expense or a retirement expense/investment.
So I don't really care what I pay for something that I'm writing off. If I overpay on the item or service I'm underpaying on my taxes. And YES, I have to pay taxes. Something poor people don't have to think about. So if you see me throwing money away you can bet I'm gaining in some other area, be it quality, convenience, profit, or tax deductions.

I'm sure you're right some rich people just love shopping for a good deal, but the whole point of veblin goods is to spend as much as possible, not as little.

I read this multiple times last time someone posted it and I’m still not sure about this. A kine gram is a dovid but to be distinguished from any dovid because it occurs by embossing on the surface of the gold itself as a physical structure rather than a foil which contains the divide stamped into the object? Am I following?

>> No.54677514

>>54677418
My understanding is that the holograms is created using a diffraction grating. You can buy them as plastic decals too, but you can also emboss them into any material. An unusual but tricky culinary trick is to pour tempered chocolate onto a sheet of diffraction grating (a plastic sheet with the lines etched), effectively transferring the effect onto the shiny chocolate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMuaSDFqXJI
At Heraeus, I gather this is somehow etched into the gold with a proprietary process. That's what makes it such a good security device. If it was a decal, you could peel it off and transfer it to a plated tungsten bar.

>> No.54677549

>>54677397
>And YES, I have to pay taxes. Something poor people don't have to think about.
1/4 of every dollar I make goes to taxes. I wouldn’t dream of paying anyone any substantial money for any menial task I can do myself let alone “clipping coupons”. Which no offense to you is such an abstract and unrealistic example to give for someone who finds it commonplace to TimeMax and hire peasants to do something disproportionately beneficial to you than it is to them. My language might seem crass but I do really mean that you think that paying taxes is for the rich, and doing menial tasks are for the poor. The bifurcation is almost a caricature. I do enjoy retete as my weekend started today.

>> No.54677571

2 points, I'm murrican, poor people don't pay taxes here. And our society is bifurcated with very little middle ground. Our middle class is essentially extinct.

second, like most self-made rich people here I own businesses. I have a few dozen employees, meaning if I wanted to save say $55k doing things for myself I can just lay off my office manager and do her job. Or the operators or the sales crew or anyone I employ.

but of course I don't have time to do one other person's full time job, let alone dozens of them. Once you hit that point you begin to ration time vs. money and think more of hiring people vs. DIY. I do things I enjoy, I hire people to do the rest. Lots of people enjoy owning expensive coins, not all of them enjoy researching prices and availability of coins. Many of those people can afford to buy coins at any price, even if they're overpaying.

Hiring someone to do what I do would be unnerving to me (initially I suppose), plus my wage slavery, I would guess 33% accurately tax on my small business and 25% accurately tax on my income. I have a business associate that I work with as a part of my operation who runs a real shit show, but he’s been doing it for a decade and mucking along much to my disappointment because I despise his business practices and it’s real pain in the ass to deal with his company and of course he blames everyone that he hires for all of his troubles. Well he decided to hop off the yacht for a bit to “take things under control” and I think it’s actually worse off under his direct leadership, than it was before months after the ship was meant to be steered. I told him so and he compared his business to Walmart as a manner of pride. Can I truly bumble along by scaling too quickly without the right knowledge or expertise to hire and manage appropriately? Yeah it's pretty easy to fuck up either by hiring the wrong sorts of people, or by doing work yourself that you suck at.

for me hiring came as a necessary adjustment to growth. I took on too much work and had to hire someone. But once I got used to trusting people to do good work and getting rid of people that couldn't do good work it got easier. A lot of what I do is contracted out to other companies as well. That way I don't have to worry much about managing those aspects or projects. They carry insurance guaranteeing quality, and if they fuck up it's not my problem.

The whole shit show is a learning process. Mess up and then improve in future. People like your associate either are doing well or will get run over by competition and lawsuits. Or both. Both can happen. You can do your best and still easily fail. But then you learn and try again, no? I've been in biz almost 30 years now. I've got a huge resume of past failures, and just enough successes to balance them out. But you only need one success.

yes. That's what I said.

if you see a rich person throwing away money we probably found a way to write it off as either a business expense or retirement investment. A lot of lambos and yachts and jets out there getting written off every year. And coins too. Of course we write off coins.

That makes sense to me. The lawsuit is what he is edging on, I’m cutting ties asap but I’ve been browsing the market and there are pitfalls to switching over, he doesn’t have any major qualms over losing big clients as he treats big and small just the same. I hope to see him in ruin only because he tried to use CEO as some big indicator that I ought to trust his word. I’ve worked at 3 startups and CEO is not something that automatically makes you a brilliant genius, that also goes for people who say they’ve worked at start ups, a pitiful lot of people and they know it as well as I do!

CEO's are mostly midwits and often psychopaths. It goes with the territory. A lot of us wind up in business for ourselves because we're assholes and nobody will hire us. But even if he goes broke he'll probably just start right back up in business and carry on like nothing happened. We're tenacious like that. Also not a lot of options. What am I going to do, go flip burgers after losing millions? Not terribly likely.

Meh, its not as if the content of current fiat coins are supposed to be more valuable than face value, but this to me screams of a panic that the current nickel content is going to be worth more than the face value in the near future. Another sign that the USD is going to hyperinflate in the near future. I bet that moment will happen when the reserved Dollars being held by nations around the world spend them in the domestic economy.

A boomers time isn’t worth that much. There’s a fine line between not wanting to waste time and being bad with money. It’s not like they’re going to do anything with that time except go home, mow their lawn, and jerk off anyway. Just like the guys on /k/ that swear reloading is a waste of money when you factor in time spent, while posting on an anime imageboard for many hours per week for a decade or more. Your time is only valuable if you’re producing something with it. If not, that time is better spent reducing expenses if possible.

There is currently 1.25 grams of nickel in every US nickel. At current prices, that's about 3 cents but it's been much higher before as nickel goes up and down a lot. The 3.75 grams of copper in a nickel are worth a bit over 3 cents at the moment so, a nickel is worth more in melt than 5 cents, but it's been much higher in the past and will likely increase more. It's a lot of effort, but theoretically you could stack nickels and sell them for scrap (though I think it's illegal) and probably beat make a decent return if you time it right.
