He's kinda got a point.

if you're buying at retail premiums and dealers are buying wholesale, dealers are pocketing any serious gains you could expect to make in the next 20 years.

And even that isn't enough to keep a brick and mortar coin store alive. Dealers actually make their money when you buy numismatic coins at 1000x spot and then your grandkids sell them back at 1/2 spot when you die of covid at age 73 or whatever.

buying numismatics at retail prices is even worse than paying the vig on bullion. You'll never get that money back.

the real gains are in what the dealers do. Shop bourses and auctions, buy collections for pennies on the dollar. That's honestly the only way you're going to make money collecting most coins. Because if you pay half price or less you made money from day one.

coin dealers are going to immediately know if you split junk into individual holders. Either way they're going to pay you less than what they can sell the coins for. A lot less in most cases. Not only can they get junk cheaper than what it sells for retail, but they also need to make money on every transaction so they're not going to pay anything like full value.

One watch is silver (and a 50s rolex) but Im not selling it, ones an antique divers watch or w.e bullova, they dont really work so Id need to repair them first. A couple old fancy digital watches, like originally when digital came out.
I saw videos saying expect spot minus like a (1-1.50 so actually 2) dollar premium, and that 1$ face value is ~15$ so that implies 4 quarters = 15$ minus a premium or something right.

Yes. The value of the gold simply increases as needed. And increased value drives more production so the supply goes up. This is another reason PMs make such good money - they are self-adjusting.

To get specific, I did a little calculation using estimates for Chinese gold reserves and quantity of yuan in circulation. The Chinese today could back the yuan at the rate of one milligram of gold per three yuan (if I recall correctly).

Yes, a few times. I usually do it in the county where I live though. I know the sheriff, and he knows I'm a voter so he allows it.

whether the state or county that owns the easement decides to fuck with you depends on what's on the ground. If it's an old ghost town or something they'll probably give you a warning at least. Otherwise I doubt they care. Technically you don't have permission to detect but if you're not finding anything valuable they probably don't care.

where I've run into trouble is in ghost towns, and near gold mines, but even then the county doesn't ticket me because they know me.

I would probably agree with some of those reasons, if they were what I thought they were. But I don't get why a king from some random Euro country is ok, but a queen or king from my country is, le bad. Her face is on plenty of coins but the WSS twitter types absolutely hate on it. /pmg/ doesn't like it when people show a sovereign either, or a Britannia, or a queens beasts etc. "Just don't show the other side". As a burger, we see the cultish dick sucking of the English royalty as incredibly fucking gay and un-American. I personally dislike the lizard because other countries like Canada and Australia are such cum guzzling faggots that they put ANOTHER COUNTRY’S ruler on the back of their own bullion. The maple is a beautiful coin but the face of English retardation on the back of it makes me sad.

With this in mind, queen Liz is a far step above the large eared goober Chuck and I made a point of stacking Brits and other commonwealth coins of this year both for the fact that it’s the last time Liz will be on them but mainly because I’m never touching a King Chuck coin going forward.

I’ll be the first to shit on America. We’re laughably retarded and have very little to currently be proud in. But we don’t put our president in a gay assed crown and exempt their family from taxes upon death like our slightly more retarded English ancestors.

Because Americans are historically illiterate retards that don’t give a fuck about King Gustaf lmao. There’s a far more recent knowledge of English royalty versus other European rulers which is why the Queen gets more flak. The belief that elites are child sacrificing pedophilic blood cultists is also a likely reason why Liz became “lizard” as whatever freaky and fucked up Epstein Island shit us burgers get up to can likely trace our origin to our colonial ancestors.

Now, having gotten the initial shit flinging out of my system, I think the animosity is far more joking rather than a serious disdain. Yeah, I’m pissed that maples and kangaroos have a different country on the back but I still stack them. They’re beautiful coins just like the Britannia and King Chuck coming to power has made me LIKE the queen far more as at least she resembled an older and more reserved global empire versus whatever the fuck the UK calls itself now.

Yep that was my thinking, I have both a yellow/green and an orange vest to choose from. Once while walking around an active excavation site in a town dump looking for bottles the workers were friendly but said that technically I needed to be wearing a reflective vest if I was going to be poking around in there. I bought a few to have on-hand if similar situations arose, it's about time I try getting some use out of them. And yeah it is probably an appealing looking spot for seasoned detectorists but I've found enough old silver in "hunted-out" parks to remain hopeful. Thanks for the advice buddy.

Comex holds two categories of metals: eligible and registered. Registered basically just means certified and ready to sell. Eligible means they have it but need to certify it. Most people who buy the contracts never actually physically claim the metals. They hold it in hopes of the value going up and reselling it. This is referred to as paper silver. There is something like 250x as much paper silver as the real deal. This is called being overleveraged and will almost certainly lead to a massive leap in silver prices if the miners don't catch up.

To prevent going below 30Moz in registered, JPM is directly shortcutting registered and only withdraw from eligible for deliveries. Registered basically didn't move since october, but eligible vault bled 11Moz since then, while it was untouched until then.
Thing is, eligible is way more fuzzy in term of ownership. JPM is now sole custodian for eligible reserves, but owners are a constellation of private entities and institutions who may or may not be interested in selling their silver. If you as a richfag decided to vault your silver in JPM's safe, it would end up accounted in eligible, even if you only want JPM to act as a safe with reduced fees compared to normal banks.
So not only we have to rely 100% on JPM words on the eligible reserves they have, but we also have no clue on how much of this silver is really able to be sold.
Reported eligible reserves are at 239Moz, but maybe half of it can't be delivered, we just don't know.

So you see Dr, the comex is what's supposed to physically back Blackrock's silver ETF "SLV". Until very recently, the physical silver backing SLV was spred in custody among many banking institutions : HSBC, Loomis, BofA, Wells Fargo, etc...

But out of nowhere last month, Blackrock announced now JPM will be the SOLE custodian for all Comex reserves. So all the other banks had to empty their silver vaults and give it all to JPM, who transfered it all in their brand new subterranean Vault B.

You think it's super shady? And probably was done to muddy the water/prepare a rugpull of cosmic proportion? Yeah, me too.
But all this to say that yes, it's JPM, i'm not merely naming them as a scapegoat for everything happening, they literally are the final boss of silver manipulation.

I found a 100oz gold bar from 1970 in my diseased grandpas closet in a box labeled “machine parts” today. Is it possible to move this tax free? What are the rules and regulations? Does a gold seller/buyer report to the gov?

IRS requires coin shops and bullion dealers to report purchases on their end over a certain threshold and you'd be required to pay capital gains. You're probably fine on a 100 oz silver bar, but I'd double check with the dealer just to be sure.

>realistic bull scenario for the metal,
First, commodities in general perform well in a high inflation environment. Secondly, 50% of silver demand is industrial, and in a time when developed countries are both pouring huge amounts of funds into industrial support and green initiatives silver will have even more demand.

>or any good schizo,
From a rational point of view, paper silver, with its lower premiums and transaction costs, is the most efficient way to invest in silver. That is, of course, if you believe that the banks actually have the silver that they say they do (ha ha). They may be near omnipotent multinational financial institutions but the most savvy PMG investors have pierced the veil that all of these so-called reserves are just a lie! Plus the government is able to track all electronic transactions, and when they come to seize all physical precious metals (since they're untraceable!) they'll simply confiscate your paper silver. When the government shuts down the electrical grid in an attempt to pacify the population, your silver will allow you to purchase necessities while your neighbors go hungry. There's really no question about it, physical silver simply is *the* metal of choice for the discerning paranoid schizophrenic

doubtful, but either way there's no way that bar was made or sold in 1970 if it was gold. That wasn't happening.
