I mean, that's a fine ideal, but that's ignoring the fact that some amount people will sell, and while the hedgies will need to buy back the float several times over, they won't need to buy your shares specifically to do it. Like, even assuming all the retail investors never sell, for any price, businesses would absolutely sell their shares, and citadel can just buy and re-buy those until their obligations are fulfilled. it just takes time because it takes T+2 to settle trades. They'll find shares to buy somewhere, and at some point GME shares will go back down. Personally, I have few shares so I have to wait until it gets to an unreasonably high price to get a result I'd be happy with, but I acknowledge that it's possible that people will just flip out once it hits something as low as 1-2k and sell out.

It's not really common knowledge for the general public but maybe it's more common in the industry. I'm an outside observer with schizophrenia so that's why I know these things, they probably have it written on the fed rrp documents somewhere. It's just the same as how a 3 month bond has its coupon payments adjusted to an annual basis. It's yearly adjusted coupon payments that are flat and non-compounding. So 30 year bonds for example have the same coupon payment for the entire duration of the bond. The compounding part is when they take the coupon payments and decide to buy more bonds with them.

yep, they park cash overnight for risk free return. coupon payments are done overnight. It's the same return as the current fedrate and is raised inline with their fed hikes so they aren't really beating market treasury returns but their risk is actually zero unlike what banks like silicon valley bank failed off of by actually holding the bonds on their book and being unable to wait for the bonds to mature. bond values go down if rates goes up, this is basically just because you calculate the difference between the final bond maturity price with the new bonds and the new ones give a lot more money so the old ones have to be sold at a loss to give the same % return.

Anybody know how to verify if you are pure DRS in Computershare? Under "Documents" I have documents called "DRS Advice" and say "GameStop Corp. - Direct Registration (DRS) Advice" in the gray header, and also under "Documents" I have "Statement" docs that say "DIRECTSTOCK" in the gray header.

I have imitated a sell of my 0.2 Plan holding tonight, and made sure I am not enrolled in dividend reinvestment. I just want to know how to confirm I am pure book DRS, after these changes take effect.

You also can't have any fractional shares in your account, although by terminating the plan that will initiate a sell order for any fractional amount getting you back down to a whole number of shares only. Once someone has done all of these steps they can keep it to being a non-issue by only transferring more shares in from a brokerage because transfers can only be whole shares. I opened my computershare account by doing a direct buy through them, which bought a fractional in addition to whole shares, and I then disabled reinvestment and let the sell order of the fractional go through before moving my shares to book entry and have since only transferred in more shares from my broker as those can only arrive as being in book entry. I also don't have any active limit sell orders and never have. If everyone did this it would push DRS up way higher than it is now, and it's frankly fucking ridiculous it's this complicated to make sure you actually own shit you bought such that nobody can use it as a locate to borrow or lend it out

This book vs plan stuff apparently has some precedent. DRS apparently came out of 2008 as a formalized replacement to transfer agents requesting physical delivery of certificates, and the 'plan' shares are basically an equivalent to something called FAST. FAST was a way for cede to just hold on to shares without ever sending them over to the transfer agent, and 'operational efficiency' literally referred to not having to print out physical deposits and deliver them. It was a process designed to keep the accounting centralized at cede.

The system doesn't fully support fractionals, so 200,000 * .5 isn't 100,000. It is 200,000 in the books, which is why it is also not in the books.
Fractionals/partials ONLY exist on markets that are separate from the actual market, so selling them does zero downward pressure, not to mention everyone is just countering the fractal sale by doing a buy of 10 shares minimum anyways.
It takes CS like a week for anything to happen, so all these fractal sales will appear next week.
