US recession predictions ignore strength of labor market
Pandemic savings still to be used
Not much clear progress on inflation means interest rate needed to continue to rise
Still sees adequately restrictive policy rate at 5.5% – 5.75% range, bias to hold for longer until inflation contained
Risk of bank stress causing broad problems seems to have diminished
Fed should avoid extensive forward guidance and next meeting, keep options open
Fed Bullard and Feds Waller are both lobbying for multiple rate hikes still to come.

quick question. when people talk about liquidity and how the fed put some billions of dollars on its sheets to bail out the banks, how does it make its way to markets? the money was used to go to the banks so do they just use it to loan to hedge funds or regular people to try and generate profit from interest, leading to that money the fed printed and gave out ending up in the stock market?

When times are bad, Banks hoard money in easily accessible ways. This money is fairly inactive and not contributing much to the economy.

When the Fed pour in money, they're basically giving them loans with negligible interest that the banks can freely put in long term investments that carry a bit of risk (but potentially provide them lots of income). This lets them grant more mortgages with a higher risk profile, invest in businesses that may not see returns for long times etc. without having to worry about needing to be able to release the money in case of a run, as they would if the loans were paid for with customers deposits

So now Max has put the money into the system, and the economy will grow because Max will purchase insurance, gasoline, and spend money on maintenance so it's really a win for the whole economy when you think about it. Remember to tank Jay, and Max for their efforts.

real estate is starting to crack, new mortgages are 6.5% now. few rate hikes then 7-8%. economy needs to be hyper strong to last 8% mortgage rates lol. zillow if you just scroll most houses already at 20% discount this gonna get ugly.

Don't. Go with one or the other. Managing two different businesses as they're starting up is a nightmare go with one or the other.
Also, half of all restaurants fail in their first year, so unless you have an inkling of the food industry or the overall demand for what customers want, don't bother with it.

I've weirdly enough got experience with this. Family member opened a combination gift shop and cafe in a picturesque town.

Gift shop just about made money, they relied on the big ticket items for profit. Cafe was a moderate success but staff costs and unpredictable weather during peak holiday season meant it was never going to be something they could reliably live on. It also ruled their lives, no holidays, even day trips at weekends were a big deal. The end of a scheme to lower council tax bills for local traders ultimately meant there was no future in it.

HOWEVER

There were some products which sold really well (gluten free and vegan versions of a local delicacy) so they set up a small bakery to wholesale it instead that was more successful and more scalable. They wholesale to cafes and do craft/trade shows to sell ultra high margin whole cakes. They've had a shitload of enquiries about exporting Christmas Cakes to the US (apparently Americans really like British Christmas cakes) but can't figure out how to have moist cakes covered in icing that can survive shipping overseas. This business has generally been a success (only age related shit putting question marks on it).
