Common sense tells me it would be retarded as fuck to put my dog through a surgery at 14 years old

But it seems she might have anal-gland cancer, which has just sprung out of nowhere.

It would be retarded as fuck to sell some Crypto for surgery right?

I hear the recovery time can be 6+ months and the life expectancy of ass cancer in dogs is like 18 months even with surgery, but Im sure most of that 18 months is full of constant side-effects of the surgery, ie: shitty QoL

Im not a bad person for not putting a 14 year old dog through ass cancer surgery, right?

Why would I put a 14 year old through ass cancer surgery? I can understand if she was 2-3 years old, but at 14?

Even if everything went 100.00% perfectly, shes basically spending the last year or so of her life recovering from a invasive major surgery and dog cancer treatments.... thats seems dumb as fuck to make her last 1-2 years feeling like shit.

You're not a bad person for not getting your dog surgery. Even without the cancer, your dog only has a few years of life left. If he's 14 now, he's led a nice long life. It's time to start preparing to let go op

14 years is "enough". its not like you're killing it. be comfortable with your choice. how much is the surgery btw?

question is, can you live your life knowing that you could had save your dog?

Your dog is old and probably in pain. If it could scream out “kill me!” It probably would. Sometimes not prolonging life is the humane thing to do. Forget about the money. Do you genuinely think your dog is happy right now? And do you think putting it through surgery and recovery only so it does 12 months after recovering fully, probably all of those experiencing pain, is compassionate? If so, then sure, get the surgery.

Cant save her though, shes 14+. Life expectancy for her breed is 13 years old.

She already cheated death at 12 years old when she nearly choked to death on a piece of hard fruit, and i just so happened to be 2 minutes from an emergency vet at the time, who were quickly put her under general anesthetist and surgically remove it from her esophagus, in a situation like that I was able to save her, but that wasn't cancer, that wasn't some major crazy surgery that involves 6+ months of recovery.

I wouldn’t do it anon. My dog is similar age. I love her and I will cry when she is put down. I bought her for $50 and I’m not throwing 5K-10K to extend her life three years.
I will weep and mourn her death and it may take a couple years to find the courage for another dog.

I mean its not even about the money, I can afford it, but it just seems retarded as fuck to put a dog through cancer treatment at 14+ years old, when she probably has 1-2 natural life years left anyway
