when black friday rolled around and JM had a deal on brits for 4 dollar premium that was just amazing as premiums were very high at the time. 4 over, is still high for a door buster black friday right? well spot was 22 so the price of 26 dollars made sense. with premiums the way they were, i thought maybe i'd never see brits at that price again. now look at prices today. premiums are a bit higher but not by much. you could argue premiums were about the same since the compared price was a special sale. the difference is spot price making everyone pay 31-32 for govt issue coins.

what's the lesson?
there are no deals when gets high. I would only buy if you're comfortable with your situation and you DCA routinely regardless of price or if you have NOTHING yet and simply want your foot in the door

It wasn't government mandated, but rather a pressure campaign by the fed and the banks to push citizens to 'do your part' and help repay our IMF loan. Since the SK fiat value was in the shitter, they urged everyone to instead donate their precious metals which still held its value.
Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gold and silver was donated and the program was a smashing success!
