In the US there’s Apmex, SD, JM, Provident, Bold, Monument, Hero, GSM, Scottsdale, bullion exchanges etc. Many of them also have EBay shops where you could occasionally find deals using points and credit cards. But, a lot of these places are raping on premiums now.

I'm watching a Korean show called Reborn Rich and in episode 5 they mentioned a "national gold-collecting campaign" occurring in 1998.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_TcP73_nmE

https://archives.kdemo.or.kr/photo-archives/view/00755735

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold-collecting_campaign

>In South Korea, the gold-collecting campaign was a national sacrificial movement in early 1998 to repay its debt to the International Monetary Fund.

The only other time I've heard of the government telling people to turn in their gold was Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Executive Order 6102 in 1933.
It's interesting how this International Monetary Fund scheme flew under the radar. Have you guys ever heard of it?

high premiums at a low spot is a deal
low premiums at a high spot is NOT a deal
high premiums at a high spot is even less of a deal

when black friday rolled around and JM had a deal on brits for 4 dollar premium that was just amazing as premiums were very high at the time. 4 over, is still high for a door buster black friday right? well spot was 22 so the price of 26 dollars made sense. with premiums the way they were, i thought maybe i'd never see brits at that price again. now look at prices today. premiums are a bit higher but not by much. you could argue premiums were about the same since the compared price was a special sale. the difference is spot price making everyone pay 31-32 for govt issue coins.

what's the lesson?
there are no deals when gets high. I would only buy if you're comfortable with your situation and you DCA routinely regardless of price or if you have NOTHING yet and simply want your foot in the door

2011 seemed to have been a fad though. Any commodity is priced only at what demand will accept.
"Silver wouldn’t test that high again until 2011. At that time, its price uptick came on the back of very strong silver investment demand, and was more than double the 2009 average silver price of US$14.67. The chart below from Kitco spans from the start of January 2010 to February 2022. It shows that the silver price reached US$47.94 in April 2011 before plummeting in the years that followed."

I don't get why PM retards don't stack copper:
>doesn't attract attention like gold and silver which will be confiscated
>good value density
>no serial numbers, not traceable unlike factory made bars that have a number
I think I missed my calling as a software engineer, I should have gotten a forge and job at a junk yard - steal copper during the day, smelt it at night into ingots and hide it in an old mine. That sounds much better than a savings account they can just disable.

GSM is kinda pricey too desu and i don't like most of their designs except for maybe the bankster justice round. moneymetals has poor selection, and i think they're more of an investment company like miles franklin, or goldline. where you call a sales associate for tax purposes or large purchases or IRA or shit like that.

Here's the thing about that since the wikike article about it leaves out a shitton of important details.
It wasn't government mandated, but rather a pressure campaign by the fed and the banks to push citizens to 'do your part' and help repay our IMF loan. Since the SK fiat value was in the shitter, they urged everyone to instead donate their precious metals which still held its value.
Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gold and silver was donated and the program was a smashing success!
Of course in reality, when the bankers and politicians saw all that gold, all they could think about was how quickly they could embezzle all of it.
Because this program was done under a wave of hysteria, it's impossible to estimate just how much of the gold was embezzled, but some estimate that as much as 90% of the gold was laundered into foreign cash, and barely made a dent in the IMF debt. Oh well. Trust the govt guyz

Oh - I think I finally understand. You're asking if numis pieces generally follow spot trend? I don't think so. It seems really pricey stuff is traded for the numis value, not the metal content. The content gives it a provenance. So when spot prices rise, it may be time to switch to numis as the difference is less.
Not to say this is always the case. I recently bought a gold coin that I had been watching for a week. It's from the late 19th century, but the price fluctuated slightly with spot, but not percentage-wise. Just the few extra or less bucks from spot. Kind annoying really.

Fed will not allow deflationary spiral. They were on the US banking collapses like a hawk and took exactly what was needed onto balance sheets asap to prevent the deflation chain reaction. They can do this because they have full oversight of the US banking sector.

The real danger comes from dollarized debt outside the US banking system. When other countries entangled in the SWIFT system start having central bank level problems, the Fed can't react as quickly. They're so afraid of the deflation spiral that they'll just issue emergency printing with Congress's blessing. Inflation is guaranteed for any fiat system that holds the keys to the money printer.

Look at his eyes. The Fed is absolutely terrified of deflation.

I'm sorry for the quality of the video. I has to convert it to webm, cut it shorter than the 4 mb limit, and remove the audio.

It was typically 3 threads a day back when PM was last bullish two years ago. PM is getting bullish again, but be aware that bots and shills make the threads go by fast with spammy posts, and trying to get anons to argue and fight each other.

What you should really worry about is wasting all your $ on shitcoins and giving money changers high premiums but since you are a greedy newbie that's exactly what you do. Oh well not my problem

Faggot
The act of slavery is just as bad as the hand that does it.
If a good man takes a slave, what's the harm in that?

Also in the end violence is the supreme authority from which all other authority is derived.
