If the options model is truly perfect then the market makers will always have the advantage in regards to probability/premium. Best you can do is run spreads on something highly liquid like SPY. There is a volatility smirk on major indexes that can hypothetically put you in favor with OTM puts. But you'll need a good rolling and management strategy. My 401k contributions stop at that point. The RMD isn't till I turn 75. So 21 year gap of no contributions into anything merely letting compounding doing the work (401k). That's 20+ years of gains that I could "juice" more if I tossed money into a target fund while I waited till 75 came calling. (I've got a pension, for life, that's my income stream after I retire to fund my Target fund and cover things). Why the target fund?. I'd rather do that than retire, then be one of those "whoops, I'm short the money I gotta go back to work" types.

I am pretty decent at scalping little bits and could fairly well do a few hundred per day, but the GFV issue causes me to hold trades that I otherwise wouldn't so as not to use em up.
