Be me: work in a cut throat department where we all make in excess of $400K a year working our assess off yet achieving nothing. It's all bullshit really and very stressful.
Department is a toxic environment run by a total psychopath.
I spoke with a much nicer department head next door (same company) about moving over. He said great, let's make it happen.
So I tell HR I want to move. Great. I give them the new job code and the HR person tells my department head I am leaving and going to new department.
I keep working, but winding down things, getting ready for move. Pretty happy. Looking forward to escaping as one of my good friends was just fired by the psycho I work for.

Fuck me: A few minutes ago I received a call from the nicer, kinder department head that his group head won't approve my move (I don't have a required certification that will take a year to get) and I need to stay with the psychopath.

Now here's where I am fucked, I am pretty sure tomorrow or next Monday the psychopath will find out my transfer wasn't approved. He will then move to fire me for the insult of me not wanting to work in his boiler room.
What do frens? I am pretty much finished in the boiler room - no promotions, no bonuses, no friends....if he fires me, I am OK with that. Finding a new will suck because what I do is specialized and the company I work for is the highest paying...yet I kind of hope they do fire me so I can live in peace.
Either way, I have to find a new job, don't I.
