No corporation or entity entrusting any significant value (e.g. sensitive data, transactions over a million dollars, etc) is going to trust HTTPS outcalls over Chainlink. You're fucking delusional. ICP will either a) adopt chainlink, or b) fail in the end because it's a security nightmare. You might as well continue securing your data with .pem certs if you're going to use HTTPS outcalls. You fucking tard.

I seriously don't get why this keeps getting posted as if the simple contents of the text in that screenshot hold some sort of significance in devaluing chainlink. It's pretty clear that HTTPS Outcalls sacrifice security in order to allow the scalability required for SC's to access a variety of data sources - exactly what Chainlink does. The difference is, the ICP does this at a significant cost to security without providing much (if any) increase in performance.

At best, ICP has a chance - a very slim chance - of being a complementary service to Chainlink where for some reason the DONs are not able to expose certain data or API's that are not exposed by Web 2.0 servers. However, this is a very doubtful scenario as literally everything of value will be accomodated by Chainlink, or alternatively, designed and built to accomodate it as the chosen oracle solution.

Look at it from the perspective of a systems engineering problem. It's fucking obvious.

Not that my rambling matters, as you have clearly demonstrated you don't understand a fucking thing and are just posting the picture like a parrot that thinks its found something shiny.

calling direct htrp endpoints doesn't work with web3 you retard.
lets say i am using this shit tier solution:

on web3 you have an immutable smart contract in which i will input the static url of the api endpoints.

but like 6 months after mainnet, the url endpoint changes or the parameters for the api change format.

THEN WHAT?? you fucking mongoloid

thats why yoy need a consensus mechanism on a decentralized network, where the issue of fetching data is on the oracle, not hardcoded in thz smart contract

They dominate the space and are widely considered the standard oracle service. They have been in a business relationship with major players in tradfi such as Swift and others for the better part of the last decade. They have released many top-tier products already with more on the way this coming cycle. They are deliving on a massive level and have done a fantastic job. They are the best team in crypto.
>>54559258
>It’s been such a bad investment it’s unreal
It's been a fantastic investment. Many holders are up in multiples of TEN. It did a 350x in 3 years. It is now at the trough of disillusionment and is bearing down on the next run up. In traditional terms this has been a VERY, VERY good investment and anybody with a brain would be accumulating right now. In crypto terms it's been an okay investment. When compared to something like ICP it has been quite simply spectacular.
Get a clue you dolt.

it's not about performance. icp containers are a more general solution, an oracle is just another off the shelf component that you can customize. it's like docker containers for web3. you mentioned system design, there is your analogy

Not every piece of data off chain that's being brought on chain has to go through Chainlink. Link is not needed for the vast majority of data calls ICP is going to be doing through web2 APIs.

I agree if canisters will be used as oracles, and they already are, they will be using Chainlink for verifying prices most likely.
