>Money market mutual funds “are increasingly a financial black hole where liquidity goes to die,” and that’s bad for the U.S. economy, Paul Ashworth, the chief North America economist at Capital Economics, wrote in a client note on Friday. The funds offer higher interest rates than banks, so they’re attracting deposits. But instead of recycling the money into the credit market, where it could be used to make loans, the fund managers are largely parking it at the Federal Reserve, Ashworth wrote. He added that he expected this week “to bring more evidence that the economy is losing forward momentum, with retail sales falling sharply,” and “manufacturing output also seeing a slight decline.”

Yes, money market funds don't have FDIC insurance. But a government money market fund doesn't need it: it's a company that owns safe short-term assets.
FDIC insurance is important for bank accounts because otherwise they're supported only by the bank's business operations, which are risky. Your savings account isn't backed by a collection of cash-flow-generating assets; without FDIC insurance, you just hope your bank makes enough money to pay you interest.

My motivation is to implement the NNFX trading system by using robust and automated backtesting, which TView will not let me do. While you can change strategy inputs, you have to do so manually. So what I can eventually do is shove in a list of indicators, then define valid ranges for each one's input, and then just have it sample shit year by year to find out what the best combinations are. Some kind of quant autism on the daily charts I guess.
I also want to do pairs trading (daily), since stuff like eg PMs tend to trend strongly. And even if the equity markets get fucked forever, I can still do forex or CFDs on other assets; this is a system/skill I can use forever. My motivation for having yield data specifically is so I can model the "environment", which includes gold/silver ratio, dollar strength, and yield curve for each data point

Someone else mentioned VMFXX which I can show you it says on page 1 that it's an uninsured product. This one is relatively conservative because it's only gov short term debt, but I can guarantee that some funds out there do have private bank debt. I'm just saying as a generality that you would literally be safer staying in an insolvent bank with your FDIC insurance than putting that money into an uninsured fund holding that bank's private debt.

Anyone here do call spreads on shitty companies / companies they dont like to get premium? Example: BYND, BRRC, LUMN, etc?

Has it been profitable for you? Any metrics you look for? How do you deal with low volume and high bid-ask spreads for the call spreads? Is there a certain risk:reward ratio or delta/percentage of probability you look for?

Alright nerds, I modeled data from 2000 to today which includes the 10-2 bonds, silver, gold, SPX, DXY, oil, VIX, and a few ratios. I did not detrend the data, I'm just looking at raw values, and this is probably wrong.
Anything in green tends to have a strong correlation; in this case it's the 10 and 2 year bonds, and silver and gold. Interestingly, gold tends to inverse the 10 year treasury.
What I think is neat is that the SPX:OIL ratio tends to trend around the 25-50 range.

I attached a bunch of useless metrics on the bottom as well. In particular, I looked at the 50 and 200 day MA and the 50/200 stoch process to turn them all into ratios. The SPX:OIL ratio is falling which means long USO short SPY might be a valid play, but they are spuriously correlated; most of that looks like it was from oil's recent rally.

I'm not willing to believe that the gov is purposely maintaining such an insane irrationality in the market. In this case, just let Blackrock or Vanguard run the country, right? what could go wrong?

The price for electricty despite the low price of EU and US natgas is still higher than before H2 2021. 2020 the price was at 20-30/MWh, not it's still +100-110 MWh. These are costs, that can't be passed on to the consumer. And the state atm funds the costs to a degree. Don't know how these economies manage all that atm.
