I used to work in IT at a high school which had a telemarketing apprenticeship, yes you read that right. Essentially, these poor, low-skilled mongs would cold call people for the minimum apprentice wage at the time (I believe it was something like £1.90 an hour). Imagine working all day for the price of a McDonald's meal, which is what many of them ate for lunch. Not to mention most of these people would get the bus to the college, which would cost about £2, or an hours work. Those who didn't walked or cycled, in the freezing rain. If any had a car, they would have to be so financially illiterate that they were never likely to get out of debt, let alone poverty. I think about those lost souls some times, and thank God above that I'm not them.

I have a job that pays decently and I enjoy the work I do and the people I work with, so I actually don’t mind and sometimes even look forward to coming into work
