It's actually not one single blockchain, nor does that blockchain actually preserve any history. People use AWS for dapp frontends because it's cheap, performant, and convenient. It's not because there's no alternative for hosting your own website. You can literally buy your own hardware server and park it in your basement if you're that paranoid about Bezos.
