I can't even imagine how shitty a work party would be, just a bunch of wagies sitting around talking about meaningless stuff related to work, zero value involved at all and you'd be better off not going. Someone I've known for almost 20 years and consider(ed) a close friend told me in a roundabout way that I'm not invited to his wedding and basically tried blaming his fiance. He went to medschool and I'm a no-life degen software developer that was basically a NEET until recently. I have to assume optics played a role in the decision, but it still hurts.

It’s mostly due the fact that pol election tourists came to the board in 2016 and never left. Believing in chud infographics is most likely a symptom of child abuse and low IQ. Most of pol averages near or slightly below room temperature IQ and most seem to be young, white Middle Americans (U18 - 27) from suburban/rural communities. Lack of self reflection is a symptom of both low IQ and communities that normalize emotionally abusive conditions/conduct.
Suburban/rural is just a general pattern I've noticed, it's mostly conservative whites here so it lines up.

Depends. I'm a writer, actor, and painter. In some circles you could, in others you couldn't. It depends on how old school conservative your work culture is. I dated a lawyer from up in New England who told me I couldn't bring up acting, only writing at her work functions. Why acting was viewed as an unacceptably low profession but writing was just fine I do not know.

Every Christmas party I just have one of my employees drive me home after I pound a dozen tall boy craft beers. Then I expense the whole tab the next day.
