Can't there is too much bureaucracy for building things in Canada. Plus if you buy a modern house you have to inspect it top down, since it will probably be build not as well.

>> No.54502672

Besides building a house there is the increase in people problem. There are at least 1 million people coming into this country every year. Temporary foreign workers, new immigrants, non permanent residents international students, illegal aliens and refugees coming in.

I'm not sure what's wrong with kids these days, especially in Canada. My gf and I watch tv shows on this channel called 'HGTV" and they have tons of shows where people rehab houses and sell them to youngsters for a nice profit. Another show is strictly Canadian with these twin guys that rehab houses people already own...these 20-something married couples own a 'poor-man's special starter home' at 750k and 'only' have $175k for rehab.
Not sure why people on this site continually bitch when there's ample evidence the market is strong.

ya building shit in most parts of canada is an absolute nightmare.

a guy i know owns some property out in the middle of nowhere. he wanted to build a barn/workshop on it to store equipment and have a place to work on it.

he got simple plans from an architect and submitted them to the town. it took over 2 years before he could start building and spent over $25k in retarded fees etc.

at one point he was called into town hall to meet with THE FUCKING MAYOR about his plans to build a barn in the woods. the mayor had the plans out and said he was unsure about approving it because a couple of the rooms didnt have windows (?), so he literally had to go back to architect to get two windows pointlessly added to the plans before he could restart the process

its a smallish town, but now that smal...50k people. canada is a dystopian, bureaucratic nightmare

Already have a job lined up *unofficially* (my uncle holds a high position in the company kek).
How hard will it be for a Indian student to buy a house there?
The job will pay fairly well, would I be able to buy a house/land in 5 years of moving?
Any tips and tricks you leafs wanna share?

go on zillow.com of the city you are moving to check the prices of houses on sale. Houses in Canada cost more then in the United States. Unless you are gonna be able to save over 1 million dollars in 5 years good luck. I would not buy on the west coast since an earthquake will probably wipe you out.

Just go to realtor.ca and browse what's on the market. The website has a payment estimator where you can play around with various configurations for downpayment / interest rates / amortization. In Canada you need minimum 5% downpayment for properties under $1mil, and minimum 20% downpayment for properties >=$1mil. You'll probably be getting ~5% interest so that's a good guideline to use. If you put less than 20% down you'll also have to pay monthly for extra mortgage insurance. If you want to buy a house anywhere close to Toronto you can expect it to cost around $5000+/month for a mortgage.

Keep in mind also that Canada is generally an expensive country for everything, not just housing. Food, clothing, gas, entertainment etc is all fairly expensive in Canada. Taxes are higher than many countries but not as bad as the most socialist European ones.

Also I hope you're moving to Ontario, you fucking shitskin, there's already enough people named Singh on my local court list for sexual assault. Stay out of my city.
