Anyone own property in different countries?

My coworker told me they lease land in Bali for 99 years and turn a profit on vilas and have a location for holidays. They claim in 99 years their children can then buy the land.

What are your thoughts?

Unfortunately Bali has gone to shit. The locals are lazy and would rather steal from tourists than makes an honest living. They will literally steal your bag off you by cutting the strap and try to rip you off even for a taxi ride. You should tell them to sell it now for whatever profit they can get.

I always thought about buying property in Colombia on some small beach city but it seems like it would be too much stress to try to maintain unless I'm retired and have way too much extra free time to commit to it

with airbnb its prob a good way to own a vacation property and pay it off quickly.
>convert USD to shitty low value currency to buy in another country, unless seller accepts USD. either way it'll be cheaper than US property
>rent out to rich airbnb tourists at way higher than average prices for that country
>ex. make 5-10k for a week stay, pay off 50k mansion in random country. huge cashflow after fully owned.

I find Guatemala one of the better places, no property tax, pretty easy for foreigners to buy, the price listed is the price you pay...I've got a fish farm, banana plantation, palm for wicker and papaya farm all on the same property, I opened a small school on site for the employees kids and help fund the main health clinic in the area, and we're working on acquiring another 3000 acres to use as an npo government subsidized animal preserve for endangered species
