you need to have a backbone, don't let anyone, not even your parents or gf or anyone, decide what you do with your money.

It's not exactly a worse story but I first got in btc early 2012 (I was 19), by late 2012 I was telling my parents to buy (because I didn't have much savings).

My mum gave me £3'000 which I sent to mtgox, within one week she had changed her mind (after reading some bs article that's now on the bitcoin obituaries). Anyway after trying for hours I only managed to get around £2'200 back so i had to pay £800 out of my pocket to cover her loss, I would have been able to buy hundreds of btc and instead I had to sell around 100 out of my stack (which was over half at the time).

Lesson learned, trade your own book.
